Hello! Welcome to A Poem A Day in May. Some background info: two of my writing friends came up with this thing we call PADIM, a poem a day in May, and I decided to join in this year since poetry really is not my jam and it's good to push yourself into the discomfort zone every once in a while. The entire premise of PADIM is pretty self-explanatory. I've decided to post my poems here, because it'll be fun to have them all compiled in one singular place. If you want to join in, feel free to post your own poems! There's no real rules, outside of HEE rules, I suppose, as anything can be a poem if you turn it upside down.

(The book is Kraken Calling by Aric McBay. It looks good. It seems interesting. My brain will Not focus on it and thus, poem. I guess.) 1. to the book ive been three pages into for the past week there is an octopus on your cover and a white flag, waving surrender and you’re a dazzling debut, i’m sure, but my attention slips, fractures, s h a t t e r s against the open air and time rushes past like something poetic, a river perhaps. so maybe this is my apology, or my permission, for not finishing you. you are a story i’m not ready for and there is beauty in that in a white flag, waving surrender

Okay, this poem was SUCH a fun challenge. Is it good? No. Is it different? Kinda. Did it push me as a writer? Hell yes.
