Sage couldn't help but chuckle when she mentioned he'd hadn't had a child hood either and shrugged. "I suppose that's true," he mused, pondering the thought for a moment before shrugging it off. He felt a grin stretch across his face when he noticed the girls smile, and he moved to grab a handful of berries to nibble on after a bit. "You'll find something. You just need to explore things a little bit," he chirped before nodding and humming softly. "you can do it," he told her. "You're a wonderful woman, and you have lots of potential. Don't ever let the world tell you otherwise," he added.

The woman snacked happily for a moment, a little smile still present on her face. She supposed it was nice to talk about anything other than how shitty she was feeling. Because she was feeling very, very shitty. Not right now, though. She was just relaxed. "I'll explore when I have the time," she mused softly. She really didn't have a clue what she could take up here. But really, she supposed just doing something other than her work for an hour or two a day wouldn't hurt her too much. She looked over at him again, a little blush forming on her face and her grin growing. "That's nice to hear," she mused gently.

Sage nodded in response to her comment. Good, at least she was open to new ideas, and finding something she could enjoy. "Maybe I should give you a horse to train," he joked lightly. "The one I rode here is as fiery as you, maybe you'll teach each other something," he snorted, though in a fond manner. She'd probably need something not to time consuming, and honestly dangerous if she didn't know what she was doing...but he could still make fun. At her other comments he sort of just shrugged with a chuckle. "It's true," he noted. "You used to tell me the same thing and I never could believe you. At least you're attempting to believe it," he mused lightly.

The woman snorted and shook her head with a small chuckle. "I'd much rather you didn't. You've already given Atticus one," she mused softly. She did need something though. Just anything to do. She couldn't even go our riding anymore, since Rolo was getting older and had been turned away to retire a good couple of years back. Just anything to take her time up at this point would be good, at least better than wallowing in self pity. She sighed and grabbed another sandwich, the start of a laugh escaping her. "I just said things to try and make you feel better. I don't think it really worked, nor did I believe it for a little while," she murmured, then raised her brow. "I've learned to take compliments better than anyone," she mused.

Sage chuckled softly in response to her comment about the horse, giving her an easy grin. "Don't worry, I'll save that for your coronation present," he teased her lightly. Though, when she mentioned she had just been trying to make him feel better, he hummed softly and nodded. "I know," he mused. "And I appreciated it all....I knew you liked me, and that was enough anyway," he added with a shrug. He chuckled at her comment about taking compliments well, and nodded. "I think that's a skill you royal people have to hone in on," he mused. "I however, leave all the things dealing with people to Mari unless I have to talk to them. I have a tendancy to be blunt and too crude, apparently," he snorted, knowing it was probably pretty accurate, but he'd never admit that to mari, of course.

The woman rolled her eyes at him before giving a small chuckle. "That might be sooner than we'd like," she mused. Her eyes fell to the ground for a moment, her brows pinching as she thought the next months over. Her parents probably didn't have that long left. Suddenly, her coronation would be soon and there wasn't an awful lot she could do about it. She couldn't do anything alone, so she would actually have to see suitors sooner rather than later. Actually, she had a dinner with someone that night which she should probably go get ready for at some point. She then looked back at him with a small chuckle. "I liked you well enough. For a little while, anyway," she teased. She then raised a brow at him. "We've been taught to do it," she noted. "I can't be getting all bashful about compliments, not when it draws more attention to myself," she added with a chuckle. She hummed in agreement before giving a little nod. "You can be very crude," she agreed.

Sage hummed softly in agreement to the girls coent about the coronation coming up soon. "Maybe," he mused. "But I do have every bit of confidence in you. You'll make a good queen," he added, reaching over to squeeze her shoulder lightly. He never thought he'd be around to see the girl grow up and become the queen....and he was rather glad to say he might actually be able to see that now. Not that it was good her parents were dying or anything, but that he was healthy enough to still be around. He chuckled at her last couple of comments though and nodded. "I suppose you do have to be polite to people," he thought out loud. "nothing people would hate more than a bitchy queen." He really was just teasing, mostly because they both knew Mari would never be able to become bitchy enough for the people to hate her. "I prefer to call it being honest," he noted with amusement in response to her last comment, really just amused by the whole thing.

The woman gave a small chuckle after a moment, shaking her head before running her hand over her face. "Well, I certainly hope so. I'm more worried about that than anything," she murmured softly. "The lords don't think much of me. If they're not happy it wouldn't take long for me to get over thrown," she mused gently. She nodded in agreement, a small smile crossing her face. "No one wants a self obsessed queen, either. We have to handle it well," she mused. She shook her head in response to him. "There's a difference between being honest and rude, Sage," she chuckled lightly. She glanced at her watch before letting out a soft breath. "I need to get going soon," she murmured softly.

Sage hummed softly before shrugging. "You're a good person," he said simply. "But you've also learned when you need to pick fights and when to keep the peace," he added. "You can't ask for a better ruler, and they know that. Especially if the people are happy, and I think they will be," he mused after a moment or so. "Well, I think you've already figured that part out," he noted in response to her next comment, chuckling softly at her comment about the difference of honest and rude. "Sometimes the truth hurts," he pointed out before nodding and squinting up at the sun. "We can relax a few more minutes...it's about quarter to three so we can start packing up in five and be back by then," he thought out loud, glancing over to catch her nod of agreement and then looking back up at the clouds with a content sort of sigh. "I've missed you, you know," he mused after a moment.

Anya felt a little smile cross her face at his comments. It felt nice to hear it. She didn't think a lot of her self most of the time. Well, she'd supposed she'd been taught she could always be doing better growing up, so it made sense. Either way, it was nice to hear. She sighed and looked over at him, a little smile still spread across her face. "I'm glad you think that," she mused softly to him. She hoped he was right though. She just needed time to get her shit together, and she was worried she didn't have that time. She looked up to the sky after a little while, just watching the clouds roll past. "The truth doesn't need to hurt," she mused lightly. "You can put things across nicely. I thought you might have learned that by now," she teased in a playful manner. She glanced at her watch again and shrugged when he said they have another few minutes. She gave a little chuckle when he said he'd missed her. "Yeah?" She asked, looking back at him. "I've missed you too," she murmured with a tired huff of air.
