Sage finished working with the foals soon enough, and by the time that happened it was nearing lunch time. So, he made sure all the horses were happy and safe out in the paddocks before wandering back to the house. Mari had gotten back by then, and he greeted her lightly, peering over her shoulder to peek at what she was making before stealing a bite and then moving to flop onto the couch.

Mari glanced over at him when he came through the door. She smiled lightly, though, poked his ribs with her elbow when he stole the food. "You know you have a good job, a nice house and someone who will make whatever you want, right?" She mused lightly, finishing off the plates and walking over to the couch and plopping one down on his chest. "You don't have to steal food anymore," she finished with a bit of a laugh.

Sage had just danced away feom her elbow with a light laugh, plopping down on the couch as he ate the small bit of food. "Oh, i know," he noted, voice laced with amsuement. "But it tastes good and I'm too impatient to wait for it to all be done," he added, eyes glittering as she moved to hand him a plate. He moved to sit up a bit mroe, thanking her lightly before digging in. "Besides, it's not stealing if it was for me in the first place," he pointed out with a grin.

Mari huffed out a breath to him, an amused chuckle escaping her. "Well, I'm glad it tastes good, but you're not a animal like our son, you can wait!" She laughed softly to him. She then moved to press a light kiss to his lips. She ate quietly, then took their plates back to the sink. "While I was out today, I saw an advert looking for some waitresses at the tavern down the street... I was thinking about going in to talk about it before I pick the kids up?" She asked curiously. "It would mean you have to make your own lunches, though," she mused.

Sage chuckled softly in response to her comments, nodding along as he ate. "Silas knows what good food tastes like," he noted with a grin. He cocked his head slightly when she mentioned working at a tavern, admittedly a bit uneasy about it. He was ok with her working but his own tavern experiences had been....less than stellar. "As long as you're sure it's a good place to work," he murmured after a moment or so.

Mari gave a slightly amused chuckle after a moment, and gently bumped his side. "You're an adult, Silas is an eleven year old," she mused lightly. She then pouted softly after a moment. She gently bumped his side. "It's a nice place. Plus, if it were go go wrong I can quit and find something else," she murmured gently to him. "It pays good too," she added softly.

Ssge chuckled softly and shrugged. "He's old enough to know what's good," he noted with a grin, sighing softly when she reassured him the tavern was an alright place. He finally nodded slightly, agreeing to her working there if she liked it. "Feel out the place well before you make a decision at least," he asked though, still uneasy about the whole tavern thing. He trusted her to make a good decision...he would just be nervous for the first little bit while she worked there.

Mari rolled her eyes at him after a moment or two. The two of them were just the same, although it wasn't a bad thing, at all. For the most part, they were both fun, happy people. Albeit, Sage had a more antsy side to him. She pecked his cheek. "Well, I'll go speak to them later today... maybe pick up some dinner or something to see what it's like," she hummed. "It's down the street, and it'd just be for a few hours a day... I'd say it would work out pretty good," she hummed happily, more excited about the thought of actually having a job to do and a bit of her own money to contribute.

Sage nodded along with her suggestion, agreeing to her going and finding out more about the place. "We could go have dinner there if you want," he mused. "I'd be able to pick up any small details about something not being what we think," he added. He'd worked at one...alibet it was a horrible one and he doubted Mari would have any issues....but he'd notice small things before she did, if it was bad for whatever reason. Besides, he wanted to scope it out himself anyway. If his wife was to be working there ...well, he just wanted to look around and settle his own nerves a bit.

Mari looked at him with a raised brow, then let out a soft breath and wandered up behind him, her hands falling on his shoulders and gently massaging his shoulder blades. "Sage babe, I have been out here just as long as you have. I can look after myself, I don't need you to protect me," she murmured gently to him, gently pecking his cheek. "I want to be able to do this myself," she murmured to him. She hadn't really done anything herself in... well, years. Sage was around, she didn't need to be alone in the way she used to. "I'm old enough to look after myself. I know what the signs are just as well as you do," she continued, her fingers gently working up his neck. "You were a child when your tavern took advantage of you. You couldn't get away. I can, because I gave you. It'll be fine," she promised.
