"For real." He says,eyeing her empty glass. "You want more champagne,nothing,or something else?I have everything." He offers,standing.

The oven went off just as Caden finished talking. Rose got up and went to pull the cookies out. When they were cooling, she smiled at him. "No thanks." She murmured, wrapping her arms around him

"Alright." He says,pulling away to put one glass in the sink and make himself a whiskey on ice.Caden walked over to the cookies,eyeing which one he'd be taking.

Rose watched him and giggled as he looked over the cookies. "Hands off, handsome, they're still cooling." She teased

"Trick is,you find the biggest ones and eat those first." He says,opening his phone.It started buzzing,Mickey's name appearing. "Work." Was all he said before heading onto the front porch.

"What do you mean they refused it?" He snapped,starting to get mad. "They just said no." Mickey responded. "So your saying,six years of work just went down the drain?" Caden snapped,almost yelling. "Guess so," Mickey responded quietly.Caden sighed,rubbing his temples. "Listen,I don't know who you are but im getting that paycheck and its getting launched.Rather they want it or not." Caden snapped,at this point yelling.He ended the call,sitting on one of the chairs,sighing.He ran his hand through his hair and sat for a moment.All those years and all those days he'd spent in the study,six years,all wasted.

Rose nodded and sat back down at the bar while Caden was on the call. She winced slightly when he started yelling, avoiding him in case he was upset

"Pull yourself together,Caden.Just one night.Just one night." He muttered,calming down before heading inside. "Cookies ready?" He croaked,avoiding to show the anger.Caden grabbed his whiskey,taking a large sip.

Rose sighed. "Yeah, they should be" She said, putting on a smile for his benefit before going to grab one

"Perfect." He says,grabbing a slightly bigger one before starting to eat it.

Rose ate one and rested her head against Caden's shoulder with a smile. "I love you"
