Sage let out a quiet sigh once he got out the door. He was still rather excited, so he stood there for a moment, calming himself down before wandering down to the barns. He took care of the horses, and spent a decent amount of time with both Mystery and Chaos. Chaos was really just for fun, but he was still working on training Mystery. He was trying to get the filly to take a saddle without being a brat about it, but it turned out that the filly had quite the little attitude. He worked with her until he could set the saddle pad on her without her moving, and then let her back in her stall. He was hot and sweaty and rather tired. He wandered back to the room slowly, humming a hello to Mari and Silas. "I'll shower quick and then we can get dinner together," he hummed, figuring she wouldn't want him all sweaty and gross at dinner.

Mari sat with the child, playing peekaboo with him, which got some happy little coos from the baby. When Sage came in, she gave him a small smile, though it was still a bit sheepish. She kind of just retreated back into herself but nodded at his comment. When he disappeared into the bathroom, she continued to play with the baby, whose big eyes had locked onto her, his gummy smile wide. His baby blue eyes had begun to brown over... and they suited him. He kept looking at her, though his arms were going towards the bathroom door, his hands opening and closing as if trying to get to Sage. "Yeah, daddy's back," she chirped lightly as she went to tickle his sides, causing a kind of laugh to irrupt from the baby.

Sage showered quickly and dried off and got dressed into some fresh clothes before sliding out of the bathroom, which resulted in a loud coo from Silas. He chuckled lightly and walked over, pressing a kiss to the baby's cheek, making his little gummy grin spread wider. "Hey little man," he hummed as Silas' chubby little hands just flapped around his face. Silas had a habit of closing his fists with a handful of Sage's hair in it, and while he didn't mind, he did move back a bit and grab his little hands on his own with another laugh.

Mari smiled as she watched the baby and her fiance interact... she couldn't help but feel a bit better about things, but she was still a little bit reserved with herself. "He got upset when you went to shower," she told him with a bit of a chuckle but was soon quiet again. She watched him flap around Sage's face for a moment before sighing softly and leaning back into the chair. The baby certainly seemed happy now, so she let him sit in her lap as he played with his father. They could go and make dinner in a bit, but she enjoyed watching the two of them together for now.

Sage hummed lightly at Mari's comment and looked down at the now happy baby. "Did he now," he hummed, tickling the little one lightly for a moment. "Is he gonna be a daddy's boy," he cooed at the baby, really just joking around a bit. He did notice Mari's quietness, and he couldn't help but get a bit nervous. Was she mad that he'd tried to get something started earlier? Did she not feel good? After a bit, he scooped the baby up with a hum. "I'm getting hungry...let's go figure out dinner," he suggested lightly.

Mari nodded to the boy at his first comment, smiling gently at the two of them... they were her world. She couldn't even begin to imagine two people she loved more, but to be honest, that just made her feel... worse. "Yeah," she told him as she watched the baby trying to grab his father. She hummed at his next comment, knowing more than well the boy was certainly a daddy's boy. She furrowed her brows a bit when he picked the baby up but nodded when he asked her to go figure out food. She shrugged a bit before forcing herself to stand up, padding out the door and to the kitchen behind him.

Sage sighed internally when the girl barely talked, and then stayed behind him while they wandered down to the kitchen. The longer this went on, the more he felt like he'd done something wrong. He knew he should be logical about this...but he was getting worried about it. He sat down with Silas once they'd got to the kitchen, and kept him entertained while Mari started cooking. After a while, Silas got sleepy, and Sage watched Mari cook silently. After a few minutes of that, his stomach started churning and he let out a quiet sigh, staring at the table. "Are you mad," he blurred out, though it was pretty quiet. Logic said she probably wasn't, but he had been pushy earlier, he thought, a bit, and...well, he was still honestly terrified of doing something wrong and losing the girl. And this silence between them was just awful...and he didn't know why it was happening.

Mari got to work cooking after a while, deciding that Sheppard's pie would be nice... very nice. She just wanted a good meal. It was quiet, and she noticed that... but she didn't know what to say. She felt a little bit pathetic for being scared earlier... it was a bit random, and she knew that. She didn't want him to be mad at her. But when she heard his little whisper, she felt her heart drop... she wasn't mad, not at all... had she made him feel like she was? She turned to him after a moment, then back to her pan, biting the inside of her cheeks. "What," she murmured quietly, shaking her head a little bit, but didn't make a move to look at him... she still felt awful about everything. "No," she eventually noted, her words just a bit short.

Sage's brow furrowed slightly when the girl's response fell short. He'd been hoping for some kind of reassurance she wasn't upset with him...and that certainly wasn't it. It seemed like she was upset, and just saying no because she didn't want to make him feel bad. He felt his heart lodge in his throat and he tried to swallow it down, picking at the grains of the wooden table, not willing to look up at the girl again. His mind was circulating now, trying to figure out what he'd done wrong. He didn't know...was he too pushy? Was she not feeling well and he'd ignored something obvious by accident? Did he say something? He'd gone to biting his nails down as he thought, and only noticed when it suddenly hurt, and he realized he'd bitten too low on his thumb, and it was bleeding. He frowned slightly and wiped it on his pants, before just resting his chin on his forarms and staring at the table, still wondering what he could have possibly done to make the girl so upset.

Mari kept on going with her food, kind of knowing she had been a bit... short. She hadn't wanted to upset him. She didn't want him to feel like he'd done anything wrong... it was just her... she'd scared herself. It was nothing to do with him, and she hated that she'd somehow made him think that. She just didn't know what to say to him... that she was sorry? That she'd just freaked out a little bit? She could have probably just told him that, and he would have been happy... so why couldn't she force the words out? She didn't have a clue. It was just... difficult. She pulled the tray out of the oven after a while and made up some veggies to go with it.
