Iris saw the phone light up and bit her lip. -Yeah but I'm still sorry we can't go. When do you get back?- Then, a moment later, she sent another text. -Where were you last night? I didn't hear back from you or see you after we talked in the hallway.- |

-i'll get back in january, two days before classes start back up- He sent, freezing at the words on the next message as he shut the trunk. -had my phone on silent and went out to dinner with some friends, stayed out late and immediately went to bed when I got back, sorry for not responding- Caden lied, figuring it was believable as he started the trek back to his dorm. |

-Okay. Let me know when you want to reschedule.- Iris believed his lie and turned her phone off before a coughing fit seized her, forcing her to drink water to calm it. She lay back down with a groan. Today was supposed to be a great day, a day she could finally spend a little of with Caden. But she'd gotten sick. Her darn immune system. And now he would be gone until January and she'd be alone again and she would have to retake the finals that she'd missed... She just needed a break. From everything. Maybe after her finals she could go spend some time by herself, or with friends. But of course, her only friends were Caden and Kinley, and they both were going to be gone. Kinley had told Iris a few days ago that her and her family were going to Hawaii for winter break. |

Caden's flight eventually arrived, the man only taking his hoodie off when required before pulling it back on, walking over to his terminal before boarding his jet, starting the flight back home. He walked in, settling in one of the many seats before motioning to the pilot he was all set, the plane taking off before eventually landing in Pheonix. |

Iris threw up twice throughout the day and the rest of the time she was either reading, watching a series, or sleeping. She managed a quick, hot shower before falling back into bed, going out like a light. |

Caden eventually landed, making the long trek over to the parking garage before climbing to the second floor, walking over to his motorcycle---a blacked out 2025 Suzuki GSX-R1000. He pulled his backpack off and set it on the seat, pulling his hoodie off before tossing it in the bag, a plain t-shirt underneath along with a pair of shorts and Nikes. He zipped the bag shut before pulling it back on, making sure it was tight as he unclipped his helmet from the seat, pulling it on before flipping his mirrored visor down. Caden twisted the keys, starting the ignition as he got on, slowly driving down the winding concrete spiral down to the street, speeding down the road and onto the interstate. |

Iris woke up the next morning feeling better, but exhausted. She listened to music as she ate breakfast, then took a walk around campus. The cold air nipped at her, waking her up. She was about to head back to her room before hesitating, then turning and walking to the library. |

Caden pulled into his driveway, turning off the engine as he walked it into the garage, flipping the kickstand down before walking inside, pulling off his helmet and setting it on one of the counters. Murphy had been returned the day before by one of his friends, the dog sprinting over to him. "Hey buddy!"
The man mused, the Great Dane jumping up at him. |

Iris pulled the book from the shelf, the Russian title filling her with memories. She flipped through it until the large photo of Caden-- Dmitri Vandaleev-- appeared. She gazed at it for a moment before attempting to read the entry on his life. She understood a few words and could pick apart a few sentences, such as 'Afterwards he started up buisnesses, helping others build theirs before moving on to his last year of high school', but that was all. With the words she did know, she might be able to decipher more. Settling down in an arm chair, she took out her phone and began writing notes as she read. 'Any time is a good time to learn more Russian,' she thought. |

Caden walked into his garage----his favorite part about being home. He flicked the light on, his Ferrais and such all being illuminated, the man grabbing his custom Chiron's keys before unlocking it, stepping into the familiar driver's seat before turning on the ignition, driving onto the highway before heading to go and get groceries. |
