The girl slowly padded along the stone hallway and up a few flights of stairs before finally reaching her room, which had a fresh tray of food in it. She thought for a moment about bringing it back down to the two siblings but then decided that the idea of food and whatever had come out of Sage didn't need to be in the same room... ever. She could bring them something later on when both Sage and Lizzie were awake and everything had been cleared up. It was a heavy meal anyway, littered with meats, which she assumed wouldn't be amazing for a guy that was struggling to eat at all. She also thought about going to eat with her parents... but sitting in the middle of a long wooden table in silence wasn't to her taste either, and while she could also dine with her cousins, she'd much rather not have her own food thrown at her. Instead of any of those things, she simply settled for eating alone on her balcony. It was nice, for a little while. Just watching over the village behind the trees... it was sweet until the sound of shouting coming from town filled the air, followed by a few screams. Anya peered down for a moment, only to see that there was a small rumble going on just outside the markets. Nothing overly major. It made her think about Sage though. Once he was strong enough to work again, Anya had no doubt he would try his best to get back out there again. Anya wouldn't be able to talk him out of going straight back to work if she tried, which she supposed was alright, if he had somewhere to go once his shifts ended, but he didn't. He couldn't go home to his father, especially not after this, and Anya definitely wouldn't let him settle on the streets again. What if the boy got jumped for a second time? He might not be strong enough to do anything about it. She supposed he would work nights in the tavern, just for a bed to stay in, but even that seemed to strain by the way he spoke about it.

Sage woke up a few hours later, but was still tired so he just lay around for a bit. Lizzie was over in her corner, organizing her herbs. Or whatever they were. They were some kind of plants that helped with certain stuff. He didn't care what they were called, he just cared about what they did. She looked over at him and put her hands on her hips sassily. "You need to sleep longer than two and a half hours, mister," she pouted. Sage grunted and made a face. "Well I woke up," he muttered back. While he loves his little sister to death, they did argue...they were still siblings after all, and as such got into fights here and there. They always made up, though, they relied on each other so much. Lizzie grabbed some leaves and shoved them at him. "Eat these. The poppy seeds with make you sleepy and the leaves will take a lot of the pain away." Her tone left no room for discussion, and Sage was pretty tired. He knew sleep was the best thing for him to heal at this point, especially since he hadn't been keeping food down much. He sighed and ate the bitter leaves before giving Lizzie a look. "Happy now?" She snorted and pointed a finger at him. "I'll be happy when you shut up and fall asleep," she retorted. He stuck his tongue out at her, and she copied him before going back to her plants. He settled back down on the pillows and curled up into a comfy ball. It hurt to move, yes, but it was better than flat on his back. He found his eyes closing again soon after, and when he fell asleep it was a very deep sleep, without nightmares.

Anya watched the little brawl for about another half an hour before the little crowd dispersed, leaving behind one rather mangled-looking figure. The girl waited for him to get up, she waited for about ten minutes, but he never moved, not one inch. It made her quiver slightly, forcing her to back off her balcony with the little tray and finished the meal inside. She wondered why there wasn't any law around to stop the fight... it was close enough to the castle for the guards to hear it and break it up, so why didn't they? She knew for a fact that if something like that were to happen with the higher-ups, they would have stopped it before it had even really started. Sage was right; they really didn't care what happened to the likes of him. Anya carefully finished the rest of her little meal before wandering back out again, setting out on a perilous journey to find a mop and a bucket of water. She searched all through the rooms, in a few cupboards in the hallway, before finally sneaking into the kitchen and finding one under the sink. She filled the bucket halfway with water before dragging it with great effort towards the servant's quarters. She was thankful no one had seen her... not only had she spilled most of it on the way there, but she had maids to clean for her... how could she explain this? Anya reached their door with a relieved sigh before gently tapping on the door with the back of her hand. She announced that it was her again before slipping through the door and softly placing the bucket on the ground. She glanced around for a moment, a small smile crossing her face to see Sage sleeping soundly. The girl looked back at Lizzie for a moment. "Is your brother a deep sleeper like you, or do I need to keep it down?" She asked in a jokey whisper.

Lizzie giggled. "He doesn't usually sleep like this, but I made him eat some herbs to take the pain away and make him fall asleep. He fell asleep on his own but doesn't last long because of nightmares. I figured he needed more rest so that was the best way to do it. He won't dream this way." She grinned. "If you ever need someone to be still and quiet, a poppy seed or two will knock them right out," she giggled. "But in Sage's case he just needed the rest." She shrugged and looked at the mop in Anya's hand and jumped up. "I'll clean! I've been needing something to do," she explained happily, hopping up and down. "Besides, I know you're a bit grossed out anyway!" She took the mop and started cleaning, muttering to herself about this or that herb or plant. Sage continued to sleep deeply ... He would be out for a while, considering he weighed so little and it didn't take much to get him asleep. It was sleep he needed though, and didn't often get a chance to get. He could never afford to sleep deeply, even if he could. He most likely would get killed overnight.

Anya shrugged and sat down on the bed as Lizzie set off to clean. She watched Sage for a few moments before looking over at Lizzie again. "He looks years younger when he sleeps... " She chuckled lightly, her smile growing slightly. Of course, she had seen him knocked out, but then he looked like he was in so much pain. It was nice to see the boy calm for a change - even if that was just because he had a dose of poppy seeds. Anya looked over at her little plant collection with a slightly raised brow before her gaze flickered back to Lizzie, "Do you know a lot about plants then?" Anya murmured curiously, her head slightly tilted. "Or are you learning about them or something?"

Lizzie looked over at Anya and shrugged as she moped. "Well, Sage knows quite a bit too, since the plants are really the only thing we can use for medicine, or pain relievers, or to try and stop an infection from developing. He just doesn' t cate about names or anything like I do. I want to be able to help people though." She grinned over at Anya. "If I was able to go to school and learn anything I would become a doctor. That's why I was so interested in what your doctor was doing to Sage. But down where we live the plants are the healers, so I'm a doctor of sorts I suppose," she chirped. Beside Anya, Sage shifted slightly, naturally gravitating towards her body heat. He had never really gotten the comfort he needed as a kid, so while he was knocked out those little kid insticts almost came back, which was partly why he was curled up into a ball, and partly why he had moved closer to Anya when she sat down.

Anya didn't really pay much attention to Sage as he shifted in his sleep, rather she briefly smiled inside and listened to what Lizzie had to say. It was a cool thought... for the girl to become a doctor. Anya had always had everything put out in front of her, so she never really had to pay much mind to what she wanted to do in life. It was nice that Sage had managed to give Lizzie a life where she could choose what she wanted to do, or at least dream about it without being tied up in some crappy field job. "I think you'd make a great doctor. Not just with plants, but I'm sure if you were taught about it you could do all sorts." Anya noted absent-mindedly, looking as though she were just spilling her thoughts. "I mean, our guy is good at what he does... but he doesn't like helping people, which means he's always been a little sour towards his patients. You're never going to be good at what you do if you don't enjoy it." She shrugged, going off track a little as she spoke.

Lizzie giggled and shrugged. "Well I like helping people and do what I can for them. Not that they always enjoy my help." She shrugged and looked over at Anya and Sage. "I'm glad we met you. Sage always feels like he had to protect me, but I think he needs some protecting too."

Anya gave a small nod as she let her smile grow a little. "Sage needs to let me look after him a bit. He's worried about me wasting money on him." She let out a soft breath as she glanced down at the boy, "I bet he's going to have a go at me for paying the doctor to see to him." She noted with a soft chuckle, shaking her head. Anya had grown to like Sage quite quickly, and despite their difference in rank, they seemed to be able to talk as if they were... equals. She hadn't known him any longer than two weeks, and she found she would have done whatever it took to keep him around. "Even so, I'm pretty sure I would have sold my soul for him to stay with us, even if he didn't think it was worth it." Anya murmured thoughtfully, going off track yet again.

Lizzie giggled. "Well, while the doctor might be a bit cranky, I highly doubt he's taking payment of human souls," she said playfully. She smiled over at Anya, almost finished with cleaning the room up. By now Sage's back was pressing lightly against Anya's leg, subconsciously seeking out the warmth and comfort that she gave.
