The medic carried on, pressing Gale's shoulder down to keep him still.

Eventually the medic finished, noting the sedation would wear off soon before leaving. Soon I awoke, everything hazy and blurry. "...Kay...?"

Kayla waited with him. "Hey, babe. How you feeling?" She asked, Malakai asleep in her right arm while Kayla held Gale's hand with her left hand.

"Like I'm still there," I muttered, squeezing my eyes shut.

"Not really," I groaned into my arm, flinching as I flicked my eyes open when the medic walked in, offering an assuring smile. "Good to see your awake, Mr. 58 Lashes-and-Counting." He murmured, raising his brows as he asked me a few assessment questions before leaving. I kept quiet, the number 58 echoing over and over in my head. I looked over at Kayla for a moment, then looked at Malakai for even longer before flicking my gaze away, sighing quietly as I realized how much trouble I was about to be in. "I made a deal."
