Mari frowned at him at his comment and furrowed her brows. Really? She looked that bad? She'd thought she'd been doing a decent job of it all. Like, hiding it. She still genuinely thought it would all just go away within a few days. She'd managed to work, sort Sages birthday out and go out for the evening. She hadn't been hung over or anything that morning, so it couldn't he that had, right? And she really, really didn't want to talk to the doctor about it all. She just kind of nodded to assure it wasn't that bad. "Well," she started with a huff. "It's not that bad - really. Some days it's worse than others, but in truth it doesn't stop me doing anything. I can still eat and sleep without issue, so I really just need something for the pain then I can get going," she huffed after a moment or two.

Sage sighed slightly and gave the doctor a sort of apologetic look for Mari being .. difficult, but he wrapped an arm around the girl anyway. He knew she didn't exactly like telling the doctor everything, but he was worried about her. The doctor regarded Mari for a moment before his face softened slightly. "I can't give you medicine if I don't know what it's for," he told her gently. "You're going to have to be more specific than 'its not that bad', I'm afraid," he added on, leaning back in his chair and waiting. He was pretty sure he knew what it was....and if he was right, maybe having something else come as good news out of the doctor's office would relax her a bit.

Mari couldn't help the slight hollow in her chest when she caught the apologetic look from her husband to the doctor. He didn't have to do that. What was he doing that? What was she doing wrong? Sage had told him what the issue was, that she was having some headaches and sickly spells... what else could there be? What else could she tell him? It comes and goes, and that was it. "That's all there is," she murmured quietly. "My head hurts, and sometimes I feel a bit sicky. I can't tell you much else," she murmured quietly and she started to fiddle with her fingers. Sages are was around her, but for some reason it wasn't at all comforting... she felt like she was embarrasing him to some degree.

The doctor grunted and nodded his head. "Anything else unusual? Not liking certain foods you usually like? Hunger coming and going?" He asked these questins gently, but raised his eyebrows slightly while asking them. When the girl mentioned a few things she'd felt nauseous about, he couldn't help but chuckle. "You two worry too much," he said, giving Sage a look. Because by ' you two' , he really just meant Sage. But either way, Mari was pretty nervous about the whole situation, though he had no idea why. "Best I can tell you is that you've been quite...busy...over the course of your honeymoon," he mused, figuring that was an easier way to say it...let her figure it out instead of just right out syaing that she was pregnant and freaking them both out. Sage sort of squinted at the doctor, mind working as he tried to figure out what he was talking about. He still wasn't the best as figuring this sort of stuff out...he wasn't used to the slang and whatever that all was, even after years of being at the castle. Finally he gave up and looked over at Mari with a rather confused look on his face, sort of asking her to help him out a bit.

Mari just sat for a while, kind of nerving her sole for some reason. She didn't have to. She knew she didn't have to. She trusted both Sage and the doctor, but that didn't stop her irrational nervousness. If she was sick and could work, then she'd be loosing money, and Sage would have to work harder to keep them both going. To keep them all going. She didn't want that, though she didn't imagine this could be that serious. Maybe some kind of bug she'd picked up along the way. Although the arm around her wasn't really comforting, she made an effort to not tense her jaw for him. She cocked her head at the doctor, her brows pinched together thoughtfully. It took. Solid moment to realise what he'd said, then gave a more curious look. He didn't think that she might be pregnant, did he? From that?

Sage was admittedly even more confused when Mari seemed genuinely interested in what the doctor had to say after a moment, and sort of just looked between the two of them, even more confused as time went on. Mari seemed to understand, but he was admittedly still at a loss of what all was happening. Silas had started wriggle around by then too, so he was trying to hold onto the boy and comfort her at the same time, so eventually he sort of just gave up trying to figure things out and focused on shifting the boy so he wouldn't climb out of his hold and fall. The doctor gave the girl a smile at her curious look and nodded, eyes shinging. She got it...he'd figured she would, she was a bright lass. He got up with a grunt and rummaged around in the back, muttering to himself for a few moments before grunting again and handing her a bottle filled with small pills. "These will settle your stomach," he said. "Take one before you eat if you feel bad." Then he handed her another bottle, with different shaped pills in it. "If you start getting a headache, take one of these," he hummed. Then he gave her a stern look. "And if either of them make you feel worse, you had better come back here the moment you realize it, don't keep taking them," he instructed her before going back to his chair.

Mari kind of just went quiet as he spoke, her brows furrowed as she prossesed what had been said. What? He thought she could be pregnant? Already? Of course, she'd wanted another child, and they'd hoped to be pregnant, but for the time being she'd expected that to be at least about another year or two until it happened. She should be so excited, but all she could think about as of then was how awful being pregnant had been. For both her and Sage. What if this was it, and he would finally have enough of her? She didn't even know if she could do all that again. It was good news, so why was she being so... stupid about it all? "Wait, are you sure?" She asked quietly. "I can't be pregnant yet," she murmured quiely.

The doctor hummed lightly and shrugged. "Well, it does seem that way," he told the girl as sage whipped his head back and forth between the two of them, both confused and excited and hopeful but also aware that Mari didn't look very happy, which admittedly put quite a bit of a damper on things once his stomach started churning. What if she hadn't wanted one? They'd said they wanted one, but what if now in the moment she'd changed her mind? The doctor had pretty much confirmed that she was, indeed, with child...and he was pleasantly surprised it had happened so soon. But ...she didn't look glad at all. And now he was scaring himself again. He realized he was clutching Silas tightly to his chest ...not enough to hurt the boy of course, but like he was something to hold onto. "say what," he finally squeaked out, which made the doctor snort in amusement. "Goodness, kids, don't worry so much....it'll be better this time, since we know how to make everything easier now that we know how you handle things, Mari," he said. It was true, sage thought. The doctor knew more now, and her mother had given her things to help as well so....it would go better. He was trying to convince himself that was right...he was terrified of her dying in labor. "Why don't you two go get lunch," the doctor suggested softly. "Let it settle in a bit. Unless you have any other questions," he added on.

Mari frowned after a moment or two, her thoughts running so wild... she wanted another baby, they'd been trying to have another one, so why was there such s large pit in her stomach? She knew the doctor was right... they knew how to deal with well... her this time. She might not feel so bad this time. She needed to be excited for Sage. And herself. This was a baby, another one, another child. This should have been exciting. They didn't have a chance to be happy about the Silas... it was a more of a 'oh shit we need to get our lives together' thing. But they could be happy. This time. "I- suppose," she whispered after a moment or two. She looked to Sage who was hugging onto Silas. She nodded softly after moment or two before grabbing his hand and wandering out of the office just before stopping outside with a bit of a sigh.

Sage's mind was still whirling when she took his hand and led him out of the doctor's office, and he looked over at her, trying to stay calm but also obviously a little out of it. "You think it's actually that," he asked her quietly, almost not believing it...it was sort of like a dream. A good dream, but it still had yet to sink in all the way. And she still didn't seem to be very happy about it...and admittedly her sigh made his stomach tighten and he suddenly felt like puking. He didn't want to seem upset though, so he sort o fjust swallowed and tried to shove it all down. "What are you thinking about all this," he finally asked, trying desperately to keep his voice steady. It wavered a little bit, but hopefully she was distracted enough not to notice that.
