Mari wandered along next to him, kind of dragging the boy along... she was going quickly, her heart thumping rapidly as she did so. She was so worried about Sage... she'd heard the gun, and now he looked like this? Had he been shot? She couldn't even tell. He was just so mangled, and that was without the brand new whip marks. The doctor had whisked the boy off quickly, and in turn Mari had Silas sit down so she could clean him up while the doctor saw to Sage. She cleared his wounds, albeit that wasn't without a fight... she still couldn't imagine why these people would strike him the way he had. He was so kind, so mild, and he was fucking three. What kind of awful person would even think to do such a thing to such a pure little person? She found him some cleaned clothes, and helped him into the bath to wash the blood and dirt from him, before getting him dressed into the soft pyjama type clothes she'd found. She then dressed the wounds, trying her hardest to make her baby boy as comfortable as he could possibly be... oh, she still felt such anger about the whole thing. And she hadn't seen Sage since the doctor whisked him off, which worried her. She helped Silas into bed, where she sat with him as he slowly drifted off, the boy resting on her chest as she gently played with his hair, trying to comfort her boy the best she could during all of this.

Sage was fully knocked out by the time the doctor had gotten the sedative mask on his face, but by then he was really out cold. The doctor did everything he needed to do...the boy certainly needed a lot of patching up. Practically his entire body bore the raw whip marks that had scarred him before, he'd had to reset and splint his hand, though he doubted the pinkie finger would grow back straight. The gun shot wound to his head had, miraculously, not killed him...but the boy would never see again out of the eye it had hit. The bullet had sliced the nerve behind it... the eye was intact and looked no different, but it was no longer connected to the brain. He'd bandaged the boy up and then unhooked him from the sedatives mask after shooting him full of painkillers and cleaning him off best he could. His shirt was practically torn to shreds, and his trousers weren't a whole lot better, so he rummaged around to find some pants and a blanket to drape over him. He didn't have a shirt that would fit his slimmer figure, but the bandages protected his body well enough that a blanket was fine to keep him warm until he could find a shirt. Then he wandered over to Mari to check up on the sleeping boy before sighing and sitting down next to Mari on the bed. "I take it you're all right then," he asked her.

Mari looked up when she saw the doctor come in, but sort of looked straight back down. What was wrong with her? Why couldn't she just care for her family, keep them safe so their sort of thing couldn't happen? She tightened her hold on the boy, but nodded. "Yeah, all good," she noted before looking at the curtain that her husband was, without a doubt, sat behind. "Is he alright?" She asked quietly. She'd been so worried for him... something had happened, and she couldn't tell what through all the blood and the chaos of the moment... all she'd really been focused on up until that point was her son. She stroked the child's hair as he slept, a kind of weiry smile across her face. "He's doing well. He's like his father, I think. So strong, and he's being so brave," she noted quietly.

The doctor nodded in response to the girls comment before sighing slightly as he thought of how to respond. "Nothing life threatening," he assured her. "Pretty beat up...he'll need help with a lot of things, and I don't want him moving around too much for at least two weeks," he informed her, passing her a bottle of quite strong pain meds. "they'll make him sleepy, so hopefully he doesn't feel up to doing much," he added. "A few broken or cracked ribs here and there, his hand and wrist were pretty much shattered...how he managed that I have no idea....and he lost a lot of blood. Lots of cuts, so keep those clean and bandaged," he instructed her. "And....he did get shot in the head," he hummed, knowing she wouldn't like the news much. "He won't be able to see out of the right eye from now on, so he'll need your help," he said softly. "But you can bring the boy and go in there with him...he'll be waking up soon and will probably be confused," he admitted. "I put a bigger bed in there for you guys."

Mari smiled quiely at his first comment... it was nice to hear. It was nice to know that he wasn't in any danger. She knew about the first of what he said... she knew that despite everything else going on, he was alright. Sage always seemed to come out of this sort of think okay. She could keep him still, too, considering they had some decent medication. Her brows pinched together at his next comment, though... it did worry her. "What?" She asked after a moment. He was lucky to get out alive, but it was still hard to hear that her husband wouldn't be able to see much anymore. Sage needed his sight. She knew what he'd be like after all of this... he'd be skittish and jumpy and without his sight he'd just be worse. She nodded quietly to him after a moment or two, looking down at her child. "Can I please just let him sleep for a little while longer?" She asked as she gently shifted the little boy and stood up. As bad as it sounded, she wanted to see sage first... she wanted to make sure he wouldn't scare Silas. It sounded awful, but he'd just been shot in the head. It wasn't going to be very pretty. She waddled behind the curtain, though, and instantly went to curl up next to him. She loved him no matter what, obviously, but it was still a bit unnerving to see all of this.

The doctor nodded and took Silas from Mari, really more than happy to watch the boy. She needed to check on her husband, and he didn't have any other patients that needed him at the time, so really it was nice to just relax and rock the boy....he'd had a rough couple of days too. Sage shifted slightly when he felt Mari enter the bed, sort of gently nestling into her warmth and comfort. Now that he wasn't in a drugged sleep, things stared to form into dreams....most of which weren't particularly pleasant. But he could deal with it, especially now that Mari was here. He woke maybe an hour or so later, and blinked his eyes open groggily to look over at Mari. He figured his eye was injured...but he was surprised to find he couldn't see out of it at all. But he was still too drugged up to get too uptight, and sort of just craned his neck to look over at her lazily. "Hey," he rasped. "How you holding up?"

Mari sat still for a little while, kind of just staring at her husband. Oh, she felt so awful... she hadn't been hurt at all, and yet her baby boy and the man she loved more than anything had the worse of it. And Sage wouldn't be able to see. She was sure they'd all get used to the change... but it would be difficult. Sage already had his witts about him, but he was going to be so, so on edge now. She wondered if any of this would effect Silas in the future... would he be jumpy the way Sage was? She didn't want her son to be living on edge his whole life. She smiled wierly when she heard Sages voice, her hand resting softly on his neck. "Hey," she replied quietly, kind of giving a bit of a hum. "I'm doing better than you are," she told him gently.

Sage chuckled sleepily at the girl's comment, moving to curl up against her a little bit, resting his head against her shoulder with a slight sigh. "Well I feel fine now," he mused. "But I'm still quite...medicated," he noted with a sleepy sort of amused voice. "Silas is ok too," he asked, a worried edge creeping into his voice. "Not hurt too bad?" She'd said he was alright before, but now he wanted the real details about his baby. And he could guess at what was wrong with him, but he supposed knowing the diagnosis may be helpful. He probably wouldn't really remember much about it though once he was awake...he was pretty much still cocked out, admittedly.

Mari moved to curl around him a bit better, deciding that he would probably appreciate the darkness, and hopefully the warmth that came with it. She gently stroked his hair and let out a heavy breath. "Yeah, you're pretty drugged up at the moment... you're probably feeling a lot better than you should be," she chuckled gently. When he asked about Silas, she kind of gave a little smile. "He's doing better. He's had some painkillers... not that we can give him much. He's been bathed and wrapped up so he's feeling better. He's asleep right now," she told him softly. "The cuts weren't too deep, so they won't scar, hopefully," she added genty.

Sage hummed lightly in amusement at her first comment, nodding slightly and shifting to bury his face into her shoulder. He appreciated the fect that she'd curled up more...he did need the comfort, even if he was all drugged up, and his broken hand was currently splinted and in a sling, so he couldn't make the move to wrap that one around her to cuddle up. It was rather annoying, but he couldn't move the hand, and there wan't much he could do about it. "Good," he hummed in response to her comment about Silas. "He shouldn't have had to go through that," he added, wishing he wasn't so low on the ranking system...it was really his fault the boy had been taken. And it was his fault they'd been seperated too. He really did feel awful about it, which is maybe why he'd been so keen on finding him. Well, it was because he was his baby noy too, but that added an extra edge to the matter he figured. But he was too tired to think about that now, and now that he was curled up and cozy with his wife, and he knew Silas was sleeping peacefully and would be alright, he felt his eyes drifting shut again and his body relaxing against Mari's as he fell asleep again.
