Mari sighed and went to press a soft kiss to his lips, unable to stop feeling so guilty. She loved this man with every inch of her soul, but she knew it was pretty... awful of her to say that he was lucky. He wasn't, like at all... none of this was lucky, but she was just trying to find some good in the situation. Like, hey, he was still alive. He could still live on, even if this was a bit... a lot... unfortunate. "Hey, Sage, you know... you know that we can adjust. Before you know it you'll be out doing everything you used to do. You'll just have to... turn your head a little further," she told him quietly. "It's just gonna take a bit of time," she whispered after a few moments. Sage took pride in being able to do things. She knew that. But for the time being... he'd just have to figure this out before he got back to any of that.

Sage offered the girl a small smile when she went to peck his lips. It did make him feel a bit better...knowing that she was still there, and she'd be as supportive as he needed her to be. "I know," he whispered in response to her comment. It would be a lot of work....he knew that, and he'd known the moment he'd been shot that something would have to change. You don't get shot in the head and not have any changes. This was just....a big one. And it was scary. He'd just been kidnapped and taken and chained to a wall, and hurt..hurt badly....and now he had half the vision he'd had before. He didn't even know if they were safe or not. "Thanks," he finally sighed, sort of just resting his head in her hand. Everything still hurt, and he couldn't do anything without it hurting. Even breathing seemed like he was constantly inhaling smoke that was burning his throat and lungs up from the inside out. But Mari was there, and he'd saved Silas. Hopefully, Mari was as proud of his efforts to protect his son as he was. That was honestly the only thing that was keeping him from actually completely freaking out....the fact that he'd gone in knowing something would happen while he protected his family.

Mari gently ran her thumb along his cheek when leaned into her hand, going to press another kiss to his forehead. She didn't know if anything she'd said would actually have been helpful... she just wanted to comfort him the best she could. She wasn't every good at it, though. She knew he'd just want to get out and do things, to help out around the house and sort his horses out, but for a little while he'd have to hold back on that. "I'm sorry, I know this is hard to take in," she murmured quietly before gently slipping away from him to lay down. Sage always seemed invincible to some extent... nothing particularly like this had happened to him. He'd never lost his hearing or sight or walking abilities... somehow. But now, it all seemed so, so real... it was a change, one that would affect what he'd be able to do for a little while. As odd as it sounded, she was actually a little bit grateful for this all... the only reason he'd gone though this was because he'd protected her son. Their child, and he'd done such a good job of it. And, maybe, it'd give him the kick he needed to care for himself a bit better. They had their children now... and they needed to be able to look after them. They needed to be there to look after them. And she absolutely wouldn't be able to do it all alone.

Sage sort of just shrugged in response to her comment, tensing up again when she moved and he couldn't see where she'd gone or what she was doing. But then she'd laid down next to him again, so he moved to curl up as best he could, breath catching in his throat as he moved as his body seemed to light up. He felt tears prick at the corners of his eyes, though he grit his jaw and blinked them away. This was rediculous...he didn't cry. And he especially didn't cry over pain. Even if it was crazy bad, life chnaging pain. "What else did the doctor say," he finally asked. He wanted to know everything that had happened...and he did need to know how to care for himself. Like...how was he supposed to shower with an arm in a sling? Could bandages get wet? Could he help his kids woth their baths? Ho wlong until he should even be able to get out of bed? It was all so confusing.

Mari felt him move, but quickly rolled back onto her side so that he didn't have to move too much. She moved a hand back onto his left cheek, kind of so that he had that comfort and could kind of see that she was still here with him. She drew in a deep breath before starting on the little list. "You're on bed rest for two weeks. The doctor says that it's minimal movement, but I'd rather you stay in bed the best you can," she told him after a few moments. "The sling can come off. The doctor says just to get a bag and tie it over the bandaging, though," she added gently. "He'd got meds for the pain and to help sleep for you. Just... don't push yourself hun. I can sort everything else outside of this room, okay?" She told him gently. She kind of looked over his featured for a moment before pressing a small kiss to his cheek. "I'm so, so proud of you Sage. You did everything you possibly could today," she added with a bit of a yawn. It was awfully late... and had been the most chaotic day.

Sage couldn't help but groan when she said he'd have to stay here in bed for two weeks. Yes, everything hurt like hell, but even so the thought of just...laying around for that long didn't seem particularly pleasant. He nodded at the rest of her comments though, still sort of wondering how he'd manage to wash himself with a bag around most of his body. He wasn't always the cleanest person, but he would need a bath before the two weeks were over. And he'd have to clean the wounds too, and replace bandages. And he didn't want to bug the doctor each time it had to happen. But...he also sort of didn't want to ask for help washing himself or brushing the knots out of his hair or that sort of thing from him either. Well, sort of in general. But he woul dneed Mari's help with some things like that, and he supposed he'd just better get used to it. Besides....he had to admit, her washing his hair did feel nice when she'd done it that one time before. He chuckled slightly when she yawned though, and hummed lightly. "Give me whatever I need to sleep then and get some rest," he told her gently. "You've had quite the crazy past few days too." Edited at August 19, 2023 05:41 PM by NightClan

Mari hummed quietly and went to grab the bottle of pills for him, along with the water. "Take two, and the water," she told him gently, placing the pills in his good hand and holding the water ready for him. She ran to get some pain killers, too, then did the same. Once he was settled and in a comfortable position, she gave a small smile, pulling the blankets up so that he'd stay warm. "This week I'm gonna change your bandages for you most days... it won't do you any good having them damp all the time. They come off before and new ones go on after your shower, too," she added quiely. She pecked his lips again and gave a sorrowful looking smile. "I'm gonna stay with Silas tonight... shout if you need anything, hm?" She asked softly before padding off to make her the child was alright, and got comfortable next to him soon enough.

Sage sort of tried to follow her movement, though when he still just couldn't tell what she was doing or where she was going, he gave up. She'd be back eventually, it didn't matter. He turned towards her best he could when she came back, and nodded in response to her directions, pretty used to taking pills at this point. By the time he'd taken the pain killers too, he could already feel himself starting to drift off. He yawned and nodded in response to her comments though, reaching up to plant a soft kiss on her nose and then practically passing out. It was probably a good thing he'd been given pills to knock him out, because otherwise he probably would have freaked out at some point. But now the sleep was certainly welcomed...he'd had a bit of a chaotic time the past few days, and he really was exhausted anyway.

Mari waddled over to her sons bed, where she settled down just next to him... he wasn't even nearly in the same condition as Sage was in, but all the same he was just a boy. He needed to know that she was there, and caring for him the very best she could. She soon settled back to sleep, and didn't wake up until she felt Silas wriggling about next to her. When he saw hid mother wake up, he whined that he was hungry, to which she smiled and pecked his cheek before hopping up and getting some breakfast for him and Sage... she left the child for a moment before going into Sages area and gently asking got him to wake up a little to eat.

Sage had no problems staying asleep that night...not with all the medicine running through him. He stirred slightly when Mari came in with food, and greeted her with a sleepy good morning, trying to balance the tray on his lap and pick at the food on it. Everything was starting to hurt again, and he was still mostly asleep, so he wasn't super hungry, but she'd want him tos at least try, so he did. "How's Silas," he asked after a moment, wanting to make sure the boy was still doing fine. No nightmares or anything...nothing was getting infected...things like that.
