Sage stayed like that for quite a while, though he eventually stirred. He was definitely still groggy, but was awake enough to keep still enough so as not to wake up Silas, who was still asleep on his chest. He didn't realize Mari was there until he felt her shift on the bed, and he practically jumped out of his skin before realizing that it was just his wife and he reached over to sort of feel out where she was settled before shifting to rest his head on her thigh with a soft huff of air.

Mari smiled when she felt him stir, but couldn't help but jump when he flinched. "Sorry," she whispered when he settled down on her, and went to gently run her hands through his hair. "Are you feeling okay?" She asked quiely, kind of moving Liz so that she was resting on her chest, though the girl was desperately trying to get to her father. She hadn't seen him in days... she couldn't blame her, really. (Super short, on the run!)

(it's all good lol) He chuckled lightly at her apology, closing his eyes for a moment as she moved her hand through his hair. It always did feel nice....and while he wasn't sure why, he certainly wasn't going to argue. "S'ok," he hummed tiredly, yawning again. "I just didn't notice you there until I realized there was someone next to me and my brain decided to give me a heart attack," he snorted, mostly in amusement but also slightly annoyed with himself. He hadn't noticed Lizzie was there until he heard her complain about being held away from him, and he moved his head to try and catch a glimpse of the girl, smiling and reaching a hand out for the girl to grab a hold of with a happy coo. "Hey baby girl," he hummed with a slight sigh.

Mari watched the child grab onto Sages hand, and kind of let her go a little bit so she could babble in her dads face. She closed her eyes, resting her head against the head bored with a heavy breath of air, she did feel kind of awful... she'd been less than polite to her mother, even though she'd been caring for her child for so long. After a bit, though, she kind of left so that Sage, Silas and Liz were all sat together, and went to sit in the hall by the doctors office... she just needed a bit of time to herself. She'd been mixing herself so anxious about everything, and she didn't want to take it out on anyone.

Sage smiled over at the little girl as she babbled, though he couldn't actually understand what she was trying to say. Silas was still asleep though, so after a moment he shushed her gently but let her curl up against his side happily. After a while, she drifted off too, and he closed his eyes as well, sort of just taking a moment to rest. Mari had moved off to do....whatever she was doing. He did sort of wish they could all cuddle up together....or that she'd read something or... something. But she deserved some time alone too, and he didn't want ther stressing herself out. Besides, for now he was happy to just cuddle his babies.

Mari sat out for a little while, kind of enjoying the quiet empty feeling of the hallway. She was a bit worried about Sage, and of course Silas, but she also knew they were safe where they were, and that was nice. She couldn't really be around Sage like this... he was so down, and didn't really seem open to trying to figure anything out. That was fine, she wouldn't be much better in his position, but it was still hard. It was scary for the both of them... would if effect Sages work with the horses? She knew he'd wanted her to stay home and care for the children, but she couldn't just do that if he wasn't bringing any money in.

Sage sort of just rested for a while, happy to stay with his children while they slept. Since he had nothing else to do, with Mari being gone, he sort of just let himself drift off again. It was maybe an hour and a half or so later when he woke, definitely hurting again. Meds had most certainly started to wear off. Or, were mostly gone if not completely gone. He groaned, mostly in annoyance, and tried to reach for the pill bottle on the table, but since he couldn't see it, he ended up just hitting it and sending most of the pills onto the floor. He let out an exasperated breath and after a moment just tried to close his eyes and go back to sleep, even though he was working up a sweat he felt so gross.

Mari just kind of sat on the floor, staring blankly at a wall as she felt her heartbeat quicken. This would effect a whole lot... it did scare her. It scared her that Sage wouldn't be able to live the life he wanted, and that he'd be on edge for ages... it scared her that her kids might not have both sound parents. It really worried her that if she were to go back to being a maid, she wouldn't be able to get at for everyone. She was worried that Sage would go back to the way he was when they first met, too. When she heard the clatter, though, so stood up quickly and went to grab the pills from the floor. "You should have called for me," she told him with a soft sigh.

Sage opened his eyes when he heard her speak, and turned his head to try and see her, though he soon gave up with a sigh. It hurt to turn his head anyway. "I didn't want to bother you. You needed a minute," he said with a shrug. "And I can wait...it's not completely awful yet." It was pretty bad....but she'd been doing a lot of work already, and she'd only have to do more for a while, which he felt incredibly guilty about. He could deal with it if it meant she got a well needed money of rest or quiet. "Besides, I don't wanna wake the kids," he admitted with a slight chuckle. They were both still laying on him, and it was admittedly quite nice to be curled back up with the two of them.

Mari shook her head, and moved to press a quick kiss to his lips. "I'd rather be bothered than have you in pain hun," she whispered before going to get him a glass of water. "Don't wait until it gets bad, either... catch the pain sooner rather than later," she told him gently. She sat in the side of his bed as she waited for him to take everything from her. She looked at their two children, a bit of a smile on her face... Silas was already healing up, and they just looked so... peaceful. So calm. She could see why he didn't want to wake them. "Come on, do this quick then you can settle back down," she told him softly.
