sorry that took forever, i've had a bunch of notes to take and the thought of typing made me wanna die. it should get better tho :)

"ya i know but it is nice to see my friends, i suppose they are more important than the air temperature" Drake said, laughing slightly. When the entered tbe lunch room after grabbing their backpacks, Drake could smell pizza. He loved pizza and he hustled to get in line for pepperoni, the best kind of pizza. he actuslly got through the line pretty quickly and sat down with his friends. quite a few of them looked nervous and weren't eating as much as usual. Drake knew they were nervous for tryouts, but being nervous is good, as it forces you to give a full effort. he read their emotions and commented, "don't be nervous about tryouts, i really don't hope to make cuts, we had a good amount of boys graduate and nobody looked awful last year. if you put in effort this summer you should be in the team again." as captain, it was his job to make everyone feel comfortable and confident. he really tried his best as sometimes he just needed someone like that but everyone assumed he was good all the time.

Ella smiled at Drakes comment, heading to follow him to get food. Her ex however, seemed to have other plans. The man was all for attacking her with various verbal insults over text, which she was slowl becoming used to. She would read the message, put her phone away and gradually be able to just...not worry. But the occasional stalker-sounding messages seemed to get the better of her. As her eyes darted over the long, horribly detailed message about where he was when she was at home horrified her, and she quickly slipped herself away from following Drake, into the back hall behind the cafeteria. As much as she obviously trusted him, the messages from Dan could change that in a quick minute. She re-read the "i saw you, in your room" line over and over again, blinking back the sudden surge of tears. She was at school, it was lunch time. There was no way she could just burst out crying now, was there? After a couple minutes she regained composure slightly, stuffed her phone back in her pocket and flung the door open, wincing slightly as it snapped back against the wall.

kinda the start of the school year, i got sick, i played catch up and now i'm back

Drake continued eating his lunch with his friends, listening in to their conversations, it was only day two but apparently there was some gossip already. He sat through the rest of lunch, occasionally tossing his opinion into the sentence, but his mind was a little preoccupied thinking about tryouts. And every once in a while, Ella would just pop into his mind, he he didn't mind but he didn't want to fall in love. He just hoped it wouldn't be a right person wrong time because she really seemed to be a good person. He just wanted to settle for friends but he'd already realized his heart wanted more than that. He tossed his tray and looked for Ella, and walked to class with her.

Ella hadnt had such a miserable lunch in what seemed like forever, and by the time it was over she was slightly shaken, angry, irritated and just pure tired all in one. As Drake found her, she gave him a very weak smile, not having anything to say until she realised they were walking to class. "what do we have next? i forgot" she asked a bit bluntly.

"We've got science." Drake said, answering her question. They walked in silence most of the way, before Drake broke it. "Hey are you alright, you've been super quiet." He hoped she didn't mind him asking, he just genuinely cared. He likes to think he noticed these little things, and something had definitely been bothering her. He knew he had those kinda days every once in a while but it felt nice when someone cared.

Ella had been staring at the floor for most of the walk to next class, nearly walking into almost everyone in her path. She had been thinking about the past events of the lunch, about the up coming cheer practise and about Drake for a couple seconds too. Her head snapped up as he started talking, and she gave an irritated look to someone she nearly walked into, before speaking. "I'm okay, just ex stuff" she started, deciding against explaining just yet. Or at all. "Thank you for asking though" she added, giving him a warm smile.

sorry i'm kinda out of ideas :/ how okay are you with time skips, like in the future, maybe skipping a week or two if there's nothing important happening in that time.

"of course, it feels good for someone to care. exes are the worst," Drake gave her an understanding smile. He remembered how it felt when his ex still called him. She broke up with him for no reason and then started spreading lies about him. I guess that's what he got for dating a senior as a sophomore, or so she had told him. He hadn't really dated since then, other than a little more than best friends, friend he had last year before she moved to georgia. Drake and Ella entered their science classroom together, and seated themselves at their table. The class passed slowly, without much conversation, as they were stuck taking notes all period.

time skips at pretty much any point are alright with me, i understand it helps :)

i usually skip time to an actual event, so for our characters a football game, them spending time together after school, or even just a week forward like you said :))

Ella nodded in agreement as Drake spoke, fiddling with her bracelets nervously. She hadnt brought up her ex at all to pretty much anyone, but it felt like it helped slightly to even mention him. She frowned at her own lack of words, getting irritated with herself rather quickly. Not being able to talk to someone she counted as now her friend was stupid, she shouldnt have a reason to feel nervous. Should she? As she settled herself at the table she gave a sigh in advance to the up coming lesson, resting her head on the table. For most of it, that seemed.

Drake and Ella's final classes went by quickly and Drake easily moved from the gym locker room to the football locker room, getting ready to run tryouts. He was super excited to see how everyone was doing and the new talent, as a couple kids moved over from other towns. He got the boys going quickly, and participated in most of the drills, but he was wathcing eveyone. It was only day one but he had a sense for some early cuts and locks already. They'd be a great team this year. He showered with purpose and grabbed his backpack happy to go home and sleep, even though he had a few assignments. He got into the car and sent Ella a snap, though he figured she'd have just finished cheerleading.
