Coruscant, Eve is currently updating the game layout on mobile, so the pages already updated are default, and those she still is doing show custom palettes. Theres nothing we can do about it right now.

Hi all,

I am thinking about starting to produce my own hay but I was wondering if it is actually worth it.

I have around 100-120 horses at any given time which will need to be fed.

How much hay do you get per pasture (for size of pasture).
How much does hay production cost?
How much would I have to make to have enough left over to sell (I need about 203 bales per week).
How much would I have to sell for it to be profitable.

Sorry if this seems a lot of questions, I just want to be sure of it before buying the pasture etc.

I haven't grown hay for years, so I can't answer all your questions, but I can some of them.

Outside the cost of the pasture I don't think there are any more costs. Unless you want to boost the production with fertilizer or help make it rain with rain dances.

The amount of hay you get varies with the quality of your crop (which is affected by how much it rains) and I no longer remember specifics but let just say I still have 28,000 small bales and 970 large bales of hay. I had somewhere around 3-5 pastures for hay and a much, much larger stable at the time too.

For the value of not having to worry about ever buying hay and still having enough for the next 77 month it is very much worth it.

I know I'm late, but I can answer some of your questions.
For a size 100 pasture on the best pasture condition, I harvested 6,000 square bales. The following real-life month on the best pasture condition, I harvested 200 round bales.
My first two harvests were free because I already had enough rain dances and fertilizers accumulated in my inventory at the time. However, it helped me a lot that other stables also did rain dances too.
.
Edited: To be profitable, it will depend on what price you sell the hay, and how much of it is successfully sold; or you use the hay for your own stable, which also becomes profitable after you reach the break-even point. You also want to make sure you don't lose all your profit by buying and using (or not using) items to help your hay grow.
.
To break even in the largest size 100 pasture (which comes before profits), I figure you need at least 8 harvests of square bales, or 6 harvests of round bales, if you harvest at the best quality without buying any items to use, and use the store prices for square and round haybales. This example may work more reliably as using the hay for personal use to break even, since other stables may or may not buy hay at store prices.
.
Math:
300,000 / (7Ebs per square bale store price x 6,000bales) = 8 harvests (rounded up)
300,000 / (256Ebs per round bale store price x 200bales) = 6 harvests (rounded up)
