Hi everyone, Can anyone tell me how horses are being qualified for the Horse of the Year LB? I always thought the horse had to be a member of a federation or something, but i noticed that one of mine is on that LB, and he's never been in any federation. Thx

There's actually two different HOTY categories. If you look on the Leaders (General) page>>Horse category>> Horse of the Year, at the bottom of the page it lists how the horses are judged. That one requires showing in a Federation. There's a second HOTY category under Top Breeders that is based strictly off of a horse's ratings and the ratings of its offspring and doesn't require showing at all. It also has a list of requirements at the bottom of its page. That's probably the one your horse is on.

Hi Drafty, Thx for the info! I checked again and I've actually got two horses on the HOTY LB, https://horseeden.com/horse.php?id=36161262 and https://horseeden.com/horse.php?id=35966905, both on the list from the Leaders (General) page, and neither of them is in a federation. So perhaps that's not a necessity? They do fulfill the requirements mentioned at the bottom of the page (which i hadn't seen yet, so thanks for letting me know). :)

Glad it helped some. I could always be wrong about the Federation showing stuff; I've never participated in Federation shows or had a horse on the HOTY Overall list. I just saw the requirements list that mentioned HOTY showing and figured it was some special kind of show. I have a horse on another account that's been on the HOTY Breeding list for a couple of years, and now that I check her, I see she's on the overall list, too, this year. https://horseeden.com/horse.php?id=37309305 So, I learned something new! :)

I've seen basic stable horses on the list, so they can't even enter Federations or member shows, so it must just be regular showing points. Here's one on the overall list from a basic stable: Edited at September 23, 2024 12:31 PM by Clear Springs
