For years in SD if a horse was up week 3,6,9 in all three it usually translated into being a decent producer and usually on the leaderboard.
Now days training vs breeding strength doesn't seem to have the same translation.
Is there something that has changed or I have missed?

Nothing has changed. I haven't updated any breeding code since the big update last year, and training code has basically never changed ever. Probably breeding is getting more competitive as more WWW are being born. Edited at June 6, 2026 11:21 PM by Cadence Farms

It seems everyone who breeds SD is finding the same problem currently. My issue is weak trained horses more often than not are ending up much, much higher than those who are training vastly better. It used to be a good factor to base around culling but now it's like throwing darts at a wall. It could be the WWW factor but I don't think that accounts for the wonky training vs breeding strength these days.

I've definitely noticed that my better training horses tend to land lower on the LBs than my poorly training ones. One of my top dressage mares was up 2 on week 3 and then 1 up on weeks 6 and 9. In my case, there's very few WWWs on the SD boards in the upper levels.

I second everything that has been said. I'm finding that horses with poor training are landing higher on the LB than those with good training. I can't count on my horses who go up all week 3/6/9 to land well on the LB but I've had multiple shock debuts of horses who only go up 1 weeks 3/6/9. It just doesn't make sense lol. And I don't find that there are many WWWs on my breeds SD leaderboards

Wondering the same. I culled my entire SD program due to this. I was spending so much money breeding to top studs with items for everything to flop

I can't tell you what to do, other than invest in strong mare bands. The leaderboards are extremely competitive. There's more more members breeding better horses and having good matches.

I don't know how much stronger my mare bands can be when most of my aged mares are LB or ABLB 😭

I dont even test my non strong trainnig horses so I have no basis for this. But what are yall considering strong traiing? Leveling is usually a good indicator for me. I have SO MANY SDs now that if thy boys arent up 2+ and level week 6 they dont even make it to the testing process... Im starting to get equally strict with my mares now too.

Minimum of 2+ up on weeks 3/6/9.
