My Oddities collection is only just starting out as we have not long bought our place.
But i have a Chimpanzee Skull which i won on an Antiques Auction. Incredibly rare and sacred.
Ive made a deal to trade it for a huge Male Lion Skull, so i am excited about that.

I am not surprised Sting, they are frigging everywhere, there is way too many getting around. When we go out for a shot, we see mobs of easily 30+. Its honestly insane

My favourite would have to be a massive deer shoulder mount I have, he is absolutely massive. Bone wise, I do have a deer skull with huge ass antlers that I adore heaps. How about you? :)

Eve, my Best friends Partner is a roo shooter. He gets 30-50 Big males PER NIGHT!

Ive seen them in mobs of hundreds in some places. They are a pest. Also a native, but also a huge pest.

Yeah we are the same, we knock over quite a few Roos, they are very destructive.
We dont have any deer where we are though unfortunately.

Oh! I collect oddities too, totally forgot to mention that. We mainly hunt deer, foxes and rabbits but are looking into roos as there is just far too many around and farmers are screaming for them to be controlled. Photography wise, just anything really. I love photographing sunsets, wildlife, my horses etc

What's the difference between a pearl coat and a perlino? I've caught both colors today and they look very similar...

I believe pearl is prlprl on a non-black coat, while perlino is prlprl on palomino. Possibly with dun?

Any horse can have pearl (Prlprl or prlprl) but it will not always be expressed.

Perlino is just a double creme dilution (CcrCcr). Can carry pearl but it won't show in the genetic name.

The Pearl gene is it's own thing. What kind of Pearl do you have? Like Coldwater Meadows said: any horse and any base coat can have it, but it will not always show in the horse's image. Buying a genetic test can help you find out.

Perlino is just the Creme gene doubled on a bay coat. So it's like buckskin but double Creme. also creme foals

Pearl is not Perlino/Creme. However, Pearl and Creme do intermingle with each other and give you EXTRA SHINY foals. IRL, Creme can activate Pearl ONLY when the horse has both.

Someone check me on all that.

Creme is a dilution gene. One copy of the Creme (Ccr) allele will result in a "single dilute" horse; a smokey black, buckskin, brown buckskin or palomino. 2 copies of the allele (CcrCcr horses) will result in a "double dilute" horse; a smokey crème, perlino, brown crème or cremello.

Single dilute horses will show pearl genes if there is one present; Double Dilutes will hide pearl (and also Champagne) because their coat is already maximally diluted so the other dilution factor will not have an effect.

Perlino, cremello, and Smokey creme are all the homozygous Ccr

The difference between those three is the cost they would have before the creme was introduced. Cremello is a chestnut based, perlino is bay based, Smokey creme is black based.

The recessive prl gene can be expressed if the coat is chestnut and you have two copies of prlprl (this is apricot), or if the coat has one copy of cream (buckskin, palomino, smokey black, or brown buckskin base coats)

So, the list of expressions would be:

Apricot (homo prl on chestnut)

Buckskin pearl (prl + buckskin)

Palomino pearl (prl + palomino)

Smokey pearl (prl + Smokey black)

Brown buckskin pearl (prl + brown buckskin)

Thank you all very much! I'll have to go through my horses and see what horse have what genes, based on their name.

I've been working at a capture quest (300) and the game is giving me a lot pearl gene horses! Anybody looking for some? They're all TBs...
