So lvl 9s are not worth it, or so it seems. 113 vs 96 entered, and 96 without lvl9 made more profit.

Hello all, I am a fairly new stable to HEE and I'm sure so are at least some of you that are reading this. So you have joined HEE, now what? If you are like me, don't have any direction, losing more money then you are making and on the verge of going bankrupt, do not fret! Advanced/senior/whatever you wanna call the more successful barns, if you could post some kind of business plan down below. It can be yours or one that you just made up or one that you were considering. Its like learning straight from the masters! Business plans should include:

- What kind of business. (Breeding, Showing, Buying and Selling)

- What kind of horses to look out for. (Breed, Colour Rarity, Training stats, Price)

- A price guide of what to sell your horses for and what to buy horses for.

- Any specific shows or training disciplines

- What to spend your money on and what to avoid spending your money on.

- Tips.

- Cautions.

- Anything else you think will help!

__________________________________________________________

If you are thinking of taking the five minutes to help, please do! I really hope that this could become something big and be able to make every barn on HEE prosper!

With much love and appreciation,

Paulina Sul Stables.

This wonderful guide by Hyrim Canyon taught me most of what I needed to know about the game, and even now I still go back to it occasionally.

Ideally, you should think about making money first before investing in breeding. This means showing!

Show, show, show! Invest in PPP+ geldings around level 5+. Try to fill up riders (10 horses). Show every day. To do well in a show, a horse usually needs at least two bars in each skill needed for a particular discipline per showing level. For example, if your horse is level 4 in dressage, check that he has at least 8 bars each in Movement, Intelligence and Strength. If they do, he should show pretty well.

Yes! Hyrim's guide is great.
<font class="mainlineblack">- What kind of business. - I breed Appendix horses for ratings. To help me accomplish this, I entered a bunch of contests, and eventually won 100k. Putting that together with what I'd saved, I bought a 3-yr old EEE Appendix stud.
I have collected a bunch of PPP-PEP mares, as they are what I can afford. Please please don't cut PPP girls with good blood down! Almost all of mine(except for maybe 2, but they were with a PEP boy that flopped) gave me PEP foals. A PEP mare threw a PEE colt. If they're what you can afford, go with it! You'll get to your goal eventually.

<font class="mainlineblack"><font class="mainlineblack"><font class="mainlineblack">- What kind of horses to look out for. - When buying new mares, I go through tons, literally about 50 horses, comparing their foal's ratings with what I want. Also, take a look at the pedigree. If they're out of a stallion like Vatican, who's the #1 stally in the game, they're more likely to produce better. As a general rule, I don't like to spend more than 10k on a brood/buying a mare. I'm just a tightwad. It happens.

<font class="mainlineblack">- A price guide of what to sell your horses for and what to buy horses for.- I just Free Range all my 1-2 yr olds, unless they're rated well. Even then, I'll FR them.
For buying a PPP mare that's produced her rating a couple times, I'd say 5-6k, depending on her blood.
I don't usually sell my horses, so I can't really help you with that. XD

<font class="mainlineblack"><font class="mainlineblack">- Any specific shows or training disciplines- I don't show my horses; I'm too lazy. BUT you want to train all your breeding stock in All Disciplines so you can see their strengths and weaknesses.
For showing, if you have a PEP, show it in Cross Country, where the E is. That'll be his/her strongest discipline. Same goes for PPE and EPP combos. Show where the E is.

<font class="mainlineblack">- What to spend your money on and what to avoid spending your money on.- Get ONE really nice, good-quality stallion, and some well-producing mares.
About the biggest money sink is Capturing horses. DON'T DO IT!! It costs from 3k to 6k to get a horse that's 99.999% of the time going to be an AAA or ASS rated. I can go to the sales and buy 2 fillies that're nice PPP's for 6k.

<font class="mainlineblack">

- Tips.- If you need help, don't ever hesitate to ask another member! The mods are especially helpful.

I'd recommend to save up for an upgrade if you're going to be serious about ratings breeding. Don't put it in your savings account though, as there IS a withdrawal fee.

- Cautions.- Again, beware the Capture button! It is your fatal enemy! LOL

Shoot me a PM if you need help or have questions!

What kind of business:
In order to do anything at all on the game, you need geldings. Geldings are cheap, great for showing, and can be easily ignored once you've got them set up the way you want with the exception of reassigning riders when necessary.
Breeding isn't a good way to make money. It really isn't. Breeding is a huge way to lose money, unless you're doing it on a miniscule scale to super cheap studs, which tends to make it not worth the money you do spend. Case in point: by spending 3k or less on each match I made this year, I still spent over 600k breeding. I have 6 100stall gelding barns and that still makes me cringe.
I buy 1k or less horses to FR which earns money sometimes and credits. Selling horses you've bought doesn't usually work very well. If a horse isn't producing well enough that you want her, why should anyone else? The only exception to this is horses with a low color rating.
What horses to look for:
There really isn't a set guide for it. If you're breeding for ratings then buying PPP+ mares with a good producing record would be best. I wouldn't buy stallions if you can get away with it. The leaderboards are the best producing stallions and most of the time you can find good matches for fairly cheap. If you match well and your mares are good quality, you should get your own leaderboard stallion sooner or later.
Pricing:
Horses are dirt cheap if they're not PEE+ combos or on the leaderboard. I don't like to spend more than 3k on a mare unless she's producing almost constant PPP+ foals.
Common selling prices are:
PPP/PEP - 1-3k
PPE/EPP - 3-5k
PEE/EEP - 35k and up
But these depend on the breed and I'm basing them off mares. Stallions are cheap unless they're on the LB.
Disciplines:
You have a choice between single discipline and all discipline, single discipline is easier to breed for but harder to find studs for and all discipline is harder to breed for and easier to find studs for. I like all discipline for my geldings because once they've completed showing in one event I can put them in one of the others they haven't leveled up for yet.
Spending money:
Don't. I've bought three stallions to use myself and all of them have been LB for less than 100k. Wait for good deals to come along, because they will. Your money needs to go towards showing first. You have to make money to be able to spend it.
Tips:
Learn to match. If you want to breed, you need to be able to match. Ask questions and post on the breeding discussion forum, many people like to match.
Cull your mares. I only started getting PEEs after I started culling. It improves your stock and saves you money and barn space. If a mare isn't producing well enough, why should you keep her?
Also, comb through all of Hyrim's guide above and every other guide you can. Some of it is a matter of opinion, but they got those opinions because of what they saw worked, so there's no reason to ignore it just for that.
Cautions:
Don't capture horses. Capturing is a waste of money. I prefer to wait until I have capture passes, and only if my quests require it. Often you can make a good few ebs by selling them, and your captures are very rarely worth anything.

I'm gonna reiterate: Read all of Hyrim's guides. I love them, and while you need to find something that works for you, they're a good start.
Anyone still confused is welcome to pm me. I don't know everything, but I'm happy to help with what I can.
