Choosing Fed Horses& Point Accrual May 18, 2022 09:11 PM

Give Award
Let me first open by saying, yes, I've read FAQ, game guide, and did a forum search for "federation" to see what has previously been covered. :)
I have two questions:
1. In general, how many weeks before the Fed year-end games would you experienced Fed competitors suggest a horse level-up to increase possible success in year-end games? Obviously, P will level faster than S, and E will level faster than P; but what's a good rule of thumb?
2. How are Fed points awarded? I know it says, "your horse will accrue federation points if they show well". Ok, so does that mean they are awarded points based on placing and, if so, how many points are awarded for what placing OR is are they awarded by how many horses they "beat"?... I guess, define "show well" ;)
Thanks!
