Growing Hay? November 13, 2020 02:44 PM

So, I'm thinking of buying a pasture to grow my own hay and have a couple questions.
How much hay does a 100-acre pasture harvest at 20 quality?
At how many horses does a pasture start saving you money?
I only have 75 gelding currently, is it worth it or no?
Also, is there anything you have to do besides plant hay and then harvest it?
And how do you plant hay?
Thanks in advance.

I can answer most of your question.
Planting hay always saves you money because if I recall correctly, it is free.
Just go to an empty pasture in the SPRING (1st-7th(?)) of each month) and there should be an option to plant hay, like a tab at the bottom of the pasture.
In order to mantain perfect crop quality, you may need to water your pasture, but since lots of people do rain dances (which will help to improve crop quality) it's not always necessary.

Aa 100 acre pasture gives you 6000 hay bales. Growing hay is always worth it. What I don't need I sell making 500-600k each month. You can plant hay on any empty pasture in spring (best straight on the first). As long as it rains every day you don't need to do anything, but you can increase the quality by using fertilizer. You need to harvest your hay in summer or the pastrue will just convert to being empty by autumn.

There was a similar forum thread that answers your first question. It also answers how many round bales can be harvested on the top hay quality.
