Um, so this just happened? Never had a colt worthy of testing before, and I don't breed ISH, so I'm not sure what my next steps will be.
I know training impacts value, but what could I expect to sell him for if I sell him before he debuts?
He is quite pretty, so hopefully that helps.

He's gorgeous! If he were mine, I'd keep to see how he trains week 4 and 7. However, because he's out of an EWE and by a sire who isn't on any leaderboards, you're unlikely to see this guy hitting any boards in the future aside from the freshie boards. Of course, the random factor has a mind of its own so it's still possible he could hit the ISHLB, which is where we look at training for clues. (All up week 4 and at least 2 up week 7 indicate a possible LB horse, though not guaranteed.)

ISH is less popular overall as a breed, so while his color is nice, he's worth a bit less than, say, a SH of his same color. 1 year old colts of any breed are currently listed for a minimum 650k, but there's also a shiny 5 yo SH of his same rating and color (minus the dun) for 250k. So, untrained, you'd likely price him somewhere in there. You can always start higher and lower the price if he doesn't sell after x days/weeks. Or keep at least 4 weeks to see how training goes.

Thank you Rocky! He was completely unexpected. I think I'll do that and see what his training looks like. I've never loved the ISH look, so I'm not sure I want to venture down that road - but he's so pretty that I'm torn! Thank you for the detailed advice, I appreciate it.

If you plan to sell it would price him at 300K if you want him to go fast

His grandfather on the mother's side briefly landed on the ABLB. (Same lineage as the #1 ISH boy Smores and Wafers) It's my belief he only fell off because he isn't used very much. He has consistently stayed on the top 20 ISH LBs his entire life. While I agree it is very unlikely he will make the ABLB he might surprise you. That lineage is a known ISH powerhouse for WWW producers. If you decide to sell him or give him away I will take him depending on his Wk 4 since he is out of my homebred line.

Unfortunately being out of a just ok stud and an EWE mare is going to hurt him since he's not a real competitive LB candidate. You could probably get 200-300k
Personally, I would sell him before training so he's not worth less if he trains poorly 😅

That's super interesting, thanks for sharing! I don't have crazy high expectations for him or anything, but I am interested to see how his training does before I make any further decisions. I will definitely let you know if I decide to let him go.

Still surprised that broodmare of yours threw a WWW as her first foal - going to have to see if it was a fluke at RO, if she's still available!

Unfortunatley, I think it was likely a RF miracle but, I do have several EEE/EWE mares that produce nothing but EEE+. For example, these girls -Click- -Click-Also from the same lineage.
