A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas Reaction: As stated in my review of ACOTAR, I was not sure how the story line from the first book would develop in the second. Let me tell you, I was very very surprised by this second book. TikTok did spoil a big thing for me, but I also saw it coming. This book was full of passion and anger and I loved every moment of it. The deception and treachery was just the icing on top. I'm really excited to read the next one! Recommendation: If you had similar feelings about the first book, or just aren't sure if you want to read the series, I can say that I was really apprehensive but have thoroughly enjoyed Maas' writing style and plot lines and highly recommend it. This book was a page turner. I know Maas is not everyone's cup of tea and that's fine, but I do recommend giving it a try if you haven't. <3

On my "to read" list: Realm Breaker The Librarian of Auschwitz Burn for Burn (triology) The Darkest Part of the Forest What She Found in the Woods Spells Trouble Small Favors Bridgerton (series) Note: This list is obnoxiously long and has more books on it than I've listed here. I really need to stop buying books until I read the ones I have, but I'm impulsive... lol.

What She Found in the Woods by Josephine Angelini Potential Trigger Warnings: drug abuse, mental illness, addiction, hospitalization, & suicide Reaction: Josephine Angelini is easily my favorite author ever. Her books are always filled with passion and adventure. This book was so different. She wrote it while she was going through her cancer treatments (thankfully recovered!) and admits to being very high from the medication. This book is a thriller. It follows a girl who has a severe mental illness and has a lot of baggage, but she meets a boy in the woods and things begin changing... but it is in a weird place between changing for the better and for the worse. There are girls going missing in her town, and she suspects the worse. This book is beautiful in its own way with learning to live with the hand that was dealt with you and managing the illnesses that you can't get rid of. As someone who takes medication for mental illness, this really resonated with me. Recommendation: I am not typically a murder mystery fan, but this book was so beautifully written! It keeps you on your toes and everything you think you know is not even close to how the book ends. I had theories and ideas building as the book progressed, but nothing prepared me for what was to come in the end. It left me speechless! I also finished this in less than 12 hours over the span of 2 days. This is worth the read! If murder mystery just isn't your cup of tea, try her other books! They are about Greek mythology (Starcrossed trilogy) and witches (Trial by Fire trilogy)!

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas Reaction: This book surprised me. The end of ACOMAF was climactic and I was unsure whether the story line would be good enough for me to continue reading. I finished this 700 page book in the span of about 4 - 5 days. I could not stop reading it. The character development alone is so so good. Recommendation: Highly recommend this series! These books are known for their romance, but honestly my favorite part has been the character development and plot. The book is political without making it uncomfortable to read. I truly enjoyed it and am ready to read the last one. Up Next: A Court of Frost and Starlight A Touch of Darkness (Hades x Persephone series)

UPDATE: Final 2021 Reads A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas Reaction: It took me longer than I would have liked to read this book, but it did not disappoint. I started it in one of the busiest times of my semester with subbing, graduation, and moving out all happening at once! I really enjoyed the transition that this book has that opens up the character switch in A Court of Silver Flames. Recommendation: This book is definitely intended to be a filler in the series, but I enjoyed the Christmas theme and it is a fun December read. Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas Reaction: This book was a page turner and threw me for a freaking loop. It mixed so many different universes with a Star Wars like government, group splitting like factions from Divergent, and added mystery! When I first started, I was worried that all these elements would be far too chaotic to work together, but Maas made it work and I am so ready for the second book to come out in February! Recommendation: Its a slow burn romance, with crime, mystery, murder, fantasy and deception! I am completely mesmerized by this book and would read it a million more times. The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller Reaction: I truthfully expected more from this book, but it was an easy quick read that only took me a few days to get through. I wasn't aware that she was coming out with another book after it and I'm intrigued enough to read the second book, but it was not my favorite read of 2021. Recommendation: If you are in a dry season in reading, or need a break from a series, this is a good book to clense your pallet, but it wasn't the best. The plot was a bit predictable for me.

2022 Reads Gild by Raven Kennedy Reaction: This is one that you need to check your trigger warnings for. It contains a lot of SA and was a bit uncomfortable to read in parts. The plot line is interesting though. A golden girl held in a cage for so long is finally getting a chance to be free, and the action is just enough to drag you into the plot. I'm excited to read the next book. Rating: 4/5 stars

Lore Olympus: Volume One by Rachel Smythe Reaction: I am not a huge fan of graphic novels, but this is a beautiful retelling of Hades and Persephone. It's modern and addicting. The slow burn love affair is beautiful, but there are a few trigger warnings you need to check before reading it. I really liked it and have already preordered the next book that releases in July. Rating: 4/5 stars

These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan Reaction: There are so many mixed reviews on this book and people compare it to so many different books as well. I picked it up because people said it was similar to The Cruel Prince and ACOTAR. Both series I absolutely adore. This book was not comparable to those series (in my opinion). I thought it was more of a faerie spin on The Red Queen series. Nontheless, I adored this book and could not put it down. I fell in love with all the characters (good and bad) and had my hear shattered into a million pieces. Needless to say, I can not wait for the second book to be released in the summer. Cliffhanger ending, be prepared. Rating: 5/5 stars
