I definitely recommend Leigh Bardugo's book Six of Crows, as well as her other writing. That one's definitely my favourite!
Gail Carson Levine is an excellent fantasy author and her books mainly feature female protagonists who aren't Mary Sues, which I enjoy. Fairest, the Two Princesses of Bamarre, and A Tale Of Two Castles (it has a fucking DRAGON as a main character and this is a grumpy witty rude old dragon to boot) are all favourites.

I read mostly YA/New Adult fantasy but I'm trying to get more into Adult fantasy, just getting through my TBR before I do that. Fantasy is my favourite, but I'd read anything that's well written regardless of genre. I hate Sarah J Maas' books, got loads a reasons but I'll spare you the rant. I'm currently reading Realm Breaker by Victoria Aveyard and Ariadne by Jennifer Saint, both are amazing so far. Just finished How The King of Elfhame Learned to Hate (it was a beautiful book) and I also recently reread The Cruel Prince trilogy (my comfort series) and Six Of Crows (big Grishaverse fan, read all of the books).

Six of Crows is on my order list! I'm trying to shrink the amount of books I need to read on my shelf right now. I went through a big splurge during quarantine and haven't even made a dent. xD I will have to add the dragon book! I freaking love dragons. I read part of the Wings of Fire series, even though its targeted for upper elementary because the writing was so detailed, beautiful, and just inticing.

I just ordered ACOT series so hopefully I like Maas .-. I also recently read How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate and it was soooo beautiful. I really really enjoyed it. You should try the Trial by Fire trilogy by Josephine Angelini! It's really good.

I shall hop on this thread... Here are some of my moray recent reads/rereads
ACOTAR series- Love, but later books get spicy 🌶
TCP- love cardan, and Jude, but mostly cardan
Bone Criers Moon- pretty good, kinda slow but got better
Cresent City- More adultish, but am a huge Mass fan
Throne of Glass- Strongly recommend, nice YA fantasy with tension, but not really any spice.
Stalking Jack the Ripper series- Crime nerd and we love a good YA crime book.

Yeah, I've read a good bit about why Maas' stuff is so problematic. I was considering reading her Thrown of Glass series but I'm gonna steer clear.
Another author that I don't personally read but a friend does is Cassandra Clare and her (many) books/series. She writes fantasy.

Lore by Alexandra Bracken
Reaction: Let me just say, I bought this book soley on the fact that it was about Greek mythology and on my Amazon recommended. For no other reason. It was one of the most captivating books I have ever read. I am super picky and rarely find books that I truly love and would read again and again, but this is one of them. With 466 pages, I was expecting it to die out and pick back up again, but no, it kept my attention and consumed me. I blazed through this book just eager to see what would happen next.
Recommendation: This book is full of action, betrayal, deception, and plot twists. With the element of Greek mythology, it includes descendents of the gods and the battle to steal the original gods powers in a hunt that happens every 7 years. The storyline is amazing and original! I highly recommend this book. It is definitely getting put on the favorites shelf.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
Expectation: I knew this was a bit of a different genre than what I usually read. It's more ghost and secret society based than faires and lore and mythology, but I was still expecting it to be good. Rarely ever do I stop reading a book before finishing it, but this was one of them. After 166 pages, I gave up. I had no motivation to read it anymore. I couldn't keep up with all the societies and background information they were giving. It jumped back and forth between past and present which I hattteee.
Recommendation: If you like a fast(er) paced book, this is not it. Nothing really happened in those 166 pages that I read. I wouldn't say not to read it, because more patient readers may actually enjoy it, but from what I did read, it was a big thumbs down for me.
