My 9yr old autistic nephew was told to write a letter to Santa of what he wanted for Christmas. My brother (his dad) watched him write, "I want a coon dog" as #1 on his list. My brother thought it was adorable and even though he didn't really want to add a dog, he wanted to surprise him. My brother found a breeder just an hour away and planned to pick out a puppy for Christmas. He got a box, wrapped a bow around the puppy's collar and we placed him under out tree. My nephew came through the house and saw the box. He opened the box and the adorable Bluetick hounds face popped out of the box. My nephew immediately got shaken and started crying from happiness.

He decided to name the pup Dan from the movie, Where The Red Fern Grows.
