Anyone else concerned about all this shit going on? Espeically the sheer amount of train derailments this month, spilling very toxic chemicals. I think the count now for this month is over 6? I'm about 5 hours from East Palestine Ohio, which was one of the most devistating derailments. 20 cars containing hazardious chemicals were spilled. One of those being a shit ton of vinyl chloride. Now what happens when this gets into the air? When burned one of the component produced is hydrogen chloride. Which will react with water vapor and produce acid rain. To contain it they are doing a controlled burn. Wanna know what also happends when vinyl chloride is burned? Burning it realases phosgene, a chemical that was weaponized during WWI. They are burning these chemicals off with residents still in the area! Mass reports of wildlife, livestock, and pets dying are coming in. As well as complaints from residents themselves on health issues. People are experiencing rashes, headaches, and sore throats. No one can drink the fucking water. I'm 5 hours away and I will not drink tap water nor will I give it to my dogs. Ok now to where I'm actually going with this. I think there is more to all this than we are being led to believe. Is this many train derailments spilling toxic chemicals normal in one month?? Why are all these happening within places that have a lot of farm land? Why can't I seem to find much information on other train derailments happening? So many questions... Is the government trying to distract us from something or are they trying to gain more control? Or is it an outside attack? Maybe just simply due to faulty tracks and or train parts? I think there's some foul play at hand.

I'm in Europe and still *very* worried. Not necessarily for my own safety but for everyone and everything over there. Catastrophies like these are no joke on the environment and my heart breaks for every person and animal that gets sick :/
From here I can only see whatever the news or social media gets through, but to me these incidents look like the consequences of corporate greed rather than a conspiracy theory. The corporations want to make as much money as they can so they
1) Don't treat their workers right
2) Cut costs literally everywhere (yes, especially safety measures)
It also seems like the big corporations have a lot of money "invested" in politicians, to cover up things and push stuff under the rug.
But again, I don't live there, I don't see how the country works from the inside, this is just the picture I get from the info I see.

I highly doubt this is a coincidence, especially with it happening near so much farmland and so close to the great lakes. It's also kind of odd that all of the trains getting derailed are carrying toxic chemicals. Not to mention the whole thing with the spy balloons being shot down everywhere, I think they know more than they're letting on, not to sound like a conspirist or anything. Honestly I feel like it's a combination of an outside attack and our government trying to gain more power

I'm about 70 miles from the train accident, the weather has been shit since it happened. A lot of people are experiencing cold-like symptoms without actually being sick, myself included. It's quite fun *not*

1000% do not take ANYTHING from these companies. No money, no coupons, nothing. There's going to be a massive reckoning about this in court, and if you accept anything from them it'll be considered compensation and it'll get dropped.
There's no real conspiracy here beyond this- they just don't care. They cut corners, they take the cheapest option possible, and when shit like this happens they hope that whatever damages they have to pay will be cheaper than doing it correctly in the first place. Airlines do this- paying out on the occasional catastrophe is cheaper than keeping the airplanes as safe and up to code as possible. So again, there's no conspiracy beyond that they want to make the maximum profit.
It's disgusting, and I'm so sorry for anybody that is currently being impacted by this. We'll all be impacted sooner or later- water is water and farmland is vital- but for the people closest to it, the damages are going to be devastating. Stay safe. ♡

Transporting hazardous chemicals is pretty common for trains. There's a railroad switch yard in Tulsa and a good chunk of what I've seen are always tanker cars. Now, for the derailment, there's no conspiracy, just good ole fashion corporate greed. From what I've read, Norfolk Southern is kiiiinda known for this.

The train that derailed was 150 cars long, so, super long. From what I've read, the train was improperly ordered (most of the heavy weight to the back than up near the engine), heavy cars in the back, hazardous chemicals next to each other, etc. To quote a Vice article, "If the heavier load is at the back, trains experience unintuitive and dangerous dynamics, especially during braking. The heavy cars at the back will push against the lighter ones in the front. In extreme scenarios, those forces can be so high that they push cars up and off the rails, resulting in derailment. If a derailment happens, heavier cars plowing in will be more likely to result in explosions and ruptured tankers due to the extra force."

tl;dr: no conspiracy theory, just corporate greed and cut corners with poor regulation.

Yeah, and there was another toxic spill in Arizona, about 20 miles from my aunt. So sad what is happening to our earth.

Okay I'm going to play devils advocate here since I've been following some of these derailments. A lot of it has to do with corporate greed. Gets things to the plants that make cleaning soulitions, labs, or wherever the hazardous materials need to go. However there is an under laying problem that a lot of people aren't realizing.
1.) the people working on the trains could be exhausted due to gruling work schedules. I'm not sure if they have the same rules truckers and pilots have to follow. Only work 10 hour days then at least 10 off before the next shift.
2.) Matience of the trains may not be up to par. I've seen some rail cars carrying coal look like shit and the bottom drops out spilling coal all over the place.
3.) Could have had issues with the tracks themselves. A loose tie or a warp in the rail could easily cause a derailment if it's not noticed by the matience crew who are to check for those things during non train running times.

I used to work at a power plant that would have coal trains come in on a regular basis. I would see a train cart drop its load due to the carts not being in good shape.

You are all bringing up good points, probably right on the train company just cutting corners and stuff.

I agree that there is a possiblity of it being tied to company greed, but we have to ask the question, why so many so quickly all at once? I am family frends with people involved with the operation of the Union Pacific Railroad, and trains don't derail this offten this catastrophically.

May be lower pay, lack of workers, and strikes, but we can't discount the fact this all is happening at the same time. Stuff is happening that isn't normal and we need to be keeping our eyes open. The world is nothing like it was a year ago... And a year ago, nothing like it was a year before.
Extreme change means you toss preconceptions out the window.

It's a new world and it's a much much more dangerous world. Greed or govermet, I am looking out for myself and the people I love.
