Elaine dismounted from Grace once they got back to the stables. She untracked her and sprayed her down with water before removing the excess water. After putting on Grace’s halter, she spotted a man, quite handsome, she had never seen before. She then heard the shriek of a stallion, which she assumed was his. “Is that your horse making the noise? If you’d like you can move him next to my two, that may help with the dominance issue” she tells him. “Are you new here?” She asks, a bit shyly. “I’m Elaine, nice to meet you” she greets him with her free hand.

"Jack. Jack Luque. Nice to meet you. This your mare?" He asks with a twinkle in his eyes, shaking her hand. "She's beautiful." He winks at Elaine. "We seem to both have stuff that belongs in the cabins, let me go grab mine." He gestures for her to follow him toward the tack room. Once they got there, he grabbed his suitcase and tactical backpack. The two walked up to the cabins, and Elaine watched as Jack unpacked. Remember. You don't fully know her yet. Yes, she's gorgeous and just who you're looking for, but that doesn't mean she's the one. He thought. "How long have you been riding? I've been my whole life." He asks, filling in a bit about himself. Edited at November 3, 2024 05:47 PM by Blue Diamond

Elaine blushed as Jack winked at her. She then remembered that he asked a question. "Oh, yes. This is Grace. My older of my two horses" she says stroking Grace's nose. "Nice to meet you Jack" She says. Elaine put Grace back into her stall, giving her a peppermint. Elaine would be living in a cabin with Jack, and Elaine felt warm knowing his room would be next to hers. She sat on the couch, reading a book when he asked her about her riding. "I started very young" she tells him. "Both my parents were riders. My mom rides English, my dad rides Western. I grew up on a ranch" Edited at November 3, 2024 06:13 PM by Hudie

"Really? So did I. That's cool we both did." He turned on his Spotify playlist of favorites, and said "May I have this dance?" He took her hand and started swaying, wrapping his other hand around to the small of her back. After a couple songs, he let her go and turned the music off. "I need to make a quick run to the store. Want to come along?" He grabbed a small sticky-note list from the top of his dresser. Milk, eggs, bread, PB, strawberry jelly, whiskey, and chips. Okay, I think that's it. He quickly read the list aloud for Elaine. "Is that okay with you? I was going to take my TRUCK?"

Elaine blushed when he offered her a dance. She took his hand though, knowing it'd be rude to turn him down and danced with him. She sat down on the couch, exhausted from the dancing. She got up and grabbed a glass of water. After finishing the water she nodded. "Sure" she then followed him to his truck.

They walked an awkward distance away from each other. He wanted to hold her hand, but she was too far away to play it off as bumping into her. He held the door for her, then climbed in. He started the truck and revved it a couple times for her laughter. He pulled out of the rescue and drove the 10 minute drive to the store. Once there, he opened her door for her and together they walked into the store. He read the list again. "milk is this way, next to the eggs." He said. once they had grabbed those, they grabbed the other things too. At the bourbon aisle, he grabbed 2 different brands, trying to figure out her preferance. When she hadn't objected, he bought a large of both. He payed after getting some chips for the both of them. They went back to the fridges, forgetting some ground beef. "I'm making tacos later. Join me?" He asked her, half offering a date nonchalantly.

Elaine thanked him for holding the door for her and buckled her own seatbelt. She then giggled as the truck engine started. Once they got the store, Elaine looked at the list, following him. She noticed that there was yogurt so she snuck it into the cart as well. When he mentioned tacos she nodded. "Sure". As they neared the checkout, Elaine pulled out her credit card and helped move the items onto the conveyor belt.

He playfully pushed her aside and tap-paid his card before she could pay for his groceries. "Let's go then." He said, grabbing the groceries. He dropped the groceries into the bed of the truck, and held her door. He then got into the truck and started driving toward the rescue.
