He wriggled around, playfully making it difficult to hold him still. He laughed even harder. "Why...why would you think...think that I'm...leaving out...information," he gasped out.

"BECAUSE! Your laughing Sage" she says still messing around with him

"You don't laugh Sage" she said half exhausted from fooling around

"Tell me what she said" Amber becomes dramatic and falls to her knees "Tell meeee" Amber pretends to die but can't herself from laughing

He laughed even harder. "I dont think corpses can laugh," he sniggered. "She said what I told you! Well, she called you a name and then said she was joking too, but it's kinda hard to translate everything all the time perfectly." He shrugged.

"Corpses can laugh, I just did" she rolls over onto her back, crosses her legs and puts her hands behind her head

"I'm sometimes glad I cannot speak serpent tongue but other times I do wish I could speak it" she sighs

"Thank by the way..for killing my dad.." amber let's out a little giggle "Never thought I would get to say that" she sighs with relief

"why did you help me? You didn't have to, you could've left me to die" she looks over at Sage "you could've died"

He lay down next to Amber and shrugged. "My entire life has an undertone of death, Amber. I mean, I dont spend enough time hunting, I starve and die. Cant find water clean enough to drink, I could die. My whole job is life threatening. Fighting one more person....it wasnt really a change for me." He sighed. "Besides....I know what it like for parents to be cruel." He jerked his thumb towards the scar over his eye and let out a bark of laughter, without humor. "My mom gave me this when I was five. Not sure what for - it really doesn't matter." He shrugged. "My point is my whole life is right in line with death. I'm always around it. Besides, if I die, I honestly really wouldnt care. I dont have much going for me and my life has pretty much sucked. The only thing keeping me here is Fire Storm and the other dragons." He wasnt sure why he was telling Amber these things - he hadn't even told Fire Storm about his parents. But he trusted her, and his instincts never lied.

"Oh Sage, you do have stuff going for you! You have great fighting skills and you're funny..sorry to hear about what your mother did to you.." Amber looks away and refuses to look at Sage again because all she could see was a little boy being hit repeatedly "My parents weren't bad or unkind to me when I was younger, it was only when I didn't want to be a rustler they turned against me" she sighs and looks at her dragons "I saved them from my dad" she waved her hand in their direction "He was going to kill them for meat but I didn't want him to, that's when he put a curse on me. I could run all I liked but he could still find me with a flute only my ear could hear..it would send me into a trance and I would walk towards him and he would follow me to where I was hiding or staying" She sighs and wipes away a tear that had fallen. "As you know I wouldnt remember a thing so he could easily walk in and kill me, that's why I always send Nymeria out with Kayda and Smaug so she can keep them safe but also tell me if something is up"

He growled. "Well, hes dead now, so that's all over." He didnt feel like he had anything going for him, and arguing with Amber about it wouldnt change his mind. He shrugged. "I ran away from home at 7. Killed both my parents on the way out. Sounds bad, I know, but it was me or them. And I'm apparently too stubborn to let them kill me even if I didnt exactly want to live for a while yet. But at least I have some purpose when I'm setting the dragons free." He pressed the flashbacks crowding his head back, not wanting to freak out in front of Amber.

"I don't blame you, your childhood seemed like shit..no offence.."

Amber wonders wether or not to tell Sage she was the princess of her rustling village/community.

"I want to join you" she blurted out before going red "Sorry I um I don't know where that came from"

He grunted. "It takes a lot of offend me." He gave her a curious look. "You want to leave your life that you've made in the village...and come live in the forest with some idiot who constantly gets himself hurt....why exactly?" He was astounded - she had a good life in the village, and she wanted to come struggle to survive in the forest? It made no sense!

Amber scoffed "uh Sage? I already live in the forest" she laughs

"I've been living in a man..woman made hut for the past 2 weeks"

Amber can't help but laugh at Sages face "I haven't lived in a village since I was 10! Although my hut is on the outskirts of a village I'm nit in it or part of it's community, I'm the outcast"

She gives him a playful pitiful look "Your not an idiot Sage plus we make a great team! I, an excellent Swordswoman and herbalist, you a brilliant Swordsman and hurting-yourself-ist"

she looks over at the dragons "more dragons means more food too, enough for us all!"

Amber stands up to put more wood on the fire

"what I mean't by joining with you was being hunting and dragon people partners, our dragons get along quite well, and so do we..why part and go our separate ways? It just doesn't make sense to me"
