"yeah some food would be nice, and water but other than tha i'm good" Flare said softly. Her green eyes seemed to glow in the light. She had pulled her hair into a braid so she looked better than she did earlier.

Diablo nodded a little, turning and walking out of the room. He got some toast and water, knowing that the bread would be less likely to trigger an unwanted reaction. He walked back into the room and handed it to her, his striking amber eyes sparkling with intense concern. "How are you feeling? Any better?" He inquired in a low tone.

"a little i'm still tired but that's understandable." Flare said before eating and falling back asleep

Diablo nodded, walking over to the window and gazing out at the woods. He wished he could just disappear, but he couldn't- even if Flare didn't like him he needed to help her.

Flare woke up drenched in cold sweat gasping. "why won't my memories stop haunting me ? she asked herself not realizing she was speaking out loud.

Diablo didn't realize how long he stared out the window until he heard a gasp, and Flare's strained voice pierced his mind. He quickly snapped around, his eyes searching the place before deciding there was no immediate threat. "Anything I can do to help?" Diablo asked, knowing he wa sbeing rather unhelpful

"i don't know, honestly i don't think anyone can help me." Flare whispered. A few hours later after Diablo had left, Flare sighed she knew it was getting late. But she couldn't sleep, then a man walked in holding a gun he pointed it at the side of her head and fired. Flare insictivly moved her hand to slow the bullet down. The bullet went through her hand and hit her head. She gasped, please tell me this is a dream. but she knew it wasn't. She saw Rex enter the room and launch himself at the man knocking him over. Then he began to bark. Flare could only hope Diablo heard his dog, she knew she needed help fast. will he ever realize i care? she thought forcing herself to stay awake because she knew if she passed out before she got help she would never wake up

Diablo closed his eyes with a heavy sigh before exiting the room. He was just one man that owned almost nothing and was a fugitive. What could he do? He went to a spare bed to hopefully get some sleep.. but sleep never came. Hours after he laid down he was still awake, but something sounded different. Was Rex barking? The dog never barked unless something was seriously wrong. Diablo grabbed a handgun and ran downstairs, looking around. "Flare!" He exclaimed as he saw the bleeding woman. "Rex, find it." Diablo instructed the dog, then dropped the gun and kneeled next to Flare. "I'm so sorry I wasnt here-" His voice was strained as he grabbed towels and put pressure on the wound. "Stay awake for me, come on. You can do it." Diablo said firmly. "Tom! Tom come on! Emergency!" He hollered loudly. The man came with morphine and a kit. Then they both started helping Flare the best they could, Tom immediately bringing her into the surgery room.

Flare could feel pressure against her wound. Then a drug entered her system numbing the pain. When she was lain onto a surgical table all she could do was whimper.

Tom worked quickly, getting the blood off the wound and immediately going fishing for the bullet. He quickly decided it had gone all the way through, and 100 percent thankful, it had not hit the brain. Fractured the skull and ripped through the back of her head, yes, and made a hole through her hand, but she had a chance at pulling through. He immeditaely began going through the steps. (I'm not writing everything he did LOL) Hours later there was one very exhausted Tom, one very worried Diablo, and one mostly alive Flare. He had gone into surgery and did the best he could to fix her head, plus stitched up her hand. The truth? Tom was worried as well. But, he said, if Flare was strong, she should pull through. Diablo was crazy worried out of his mind, and the one thing that helped was chasing the guy who did this. So, after the news came from Tom that she was alive, he immediately darted out and found Rex practically gnawing on the arm of a screaming guy. Diablo lifted the handgun he still had and grabbed the guys hand, shooting through it. "How'd that feel." He seethed, pointing the gun straight in between the guy's eyes and cocking the hammer back. The man pleaded for mercy, but Diablo pulled the trigger. He died immediately.
