Lily rolled her eyes. "Well, you got off topic first. And anyway, you're ignoring my question. Well," Lily said, remembering her earlier comment, "it wasn't actually a question. A request. Go on, we don't have all day."

West let out a little sigh, but he settled back to start. Surprisingly, the thought that crossed his mind was -This would make a great story. It is definitely dramatic enough- He thought with a slight wince. "Okay then. Well I had a brother, amazingly, that was a year older than me. His name was Black Menace. Named appropriately, I see now." West started slowly. "We had a nice small herd and everyone was happy, but we could all tell Menace was different from me. I was the biggest jokester, the kindest, and the sweetest colt they had ever seen. I had no intentions of trying to take over my fathers herd. Menace, though, seemed different. When he turned 2 he was still just a colt, but he tried to fight my father. The stallion won, of course. This happened a couple times over the year, but as soon as Menace turned 3 and he was full grown he went all out on the leader. The leader fought him off, but it was harder this time. He was getting older... maybe 14 at that time. Then the herd decided Menace had to go, so they sent him on his wall. He had become a danger. A threat. So Menace left, and we didn't see him for a year. I turned 3, but I still wasn't full grown yet. I was still nice and sweet, and still the jokester I had always been... so the herd let me stay. That same month Menace came back with a big gang of strong stallions. My father was now 15 and his health was declining quickly... so he was killed first by Menace himself. After that all the stallions including Menace killed off each member of my small herd one by one, my mother last. Then he broke my leg and said that he wanted me to suffer before leaving. I, of course, knew that the chance of a young stallion living in the wild with all the other predators and stallions was slim to none. So I trained and got stronger, since I literally couldn't outrun a turtle. That's why I'm slower then most horses... because my leg never really healed correctly. It was and is all luck that's I am still here today. I haven't seen Menace since, but Ive heard that he is raiding and killing other herds, stealing mares, and doing terrible things." West trailed off with a sorrowful look. "So there is my very depressing story. The end." He finished, swishing his tail sadly before glancing up at Lily

(Okay, that's not quite what I was expecting... I was expecting something about like that but not that... Uh... Gruesome? Also, haha, I haven't decided Lily's backstory, so I might take a little while in my next post XD)

Lily's eyes grew wide and she wavered a little in place, and then fell over, blacking out. (Pathetic, I know)

West eyebrows shot practically up to the heavens as Lily blacked out. He didn't exactly know what to say, so he said the first word that came to mind. "Oops." He muttered, going forward to sniff the mare. "That... wasn't... my goal..."

Lily's eyes fluttered and she blinked, the sun blinding her for a second. "What... What happened? Did I faint?" Lily squinted, trying to remember what had happened a few seconds ago. Let's see... West and I were joking together and then I asked about his past, and then he told me... Oh no. Lily jumped up, looking scared and sorry at the same time. "Oh West, I'm so sorry! Hearing about death and blood scares me, and when you told your story... Well, it was all too much."

West managed to look co concerned, amused, and terrified all at the same time before everything cleared from his face except concern. -oh... a... oops... well... um... er- he thought with a hesitant look at the mare. West opened his mouth to say something, but closed it again as Lily jumped up, taking a step back. "No, I'm sorry, I should have suspected that." He said cautiously, not wanting to say something wrong at this point. "I didn't mean to scare you... are you okay?" West finally got around to asking

Lily smiled thankfully and said, "thank you. But you know, not everything is your fault. A lot of wha time don't is my fault, whether you like it or not. Now...." Lily said, thinking over what she was going to say. "Let me tell you my story." (I am so stuck on her backstory, any ideas?)

-not everything is my fault, that's a surprise- West thought wryly, but he said nothing except for giving a small nod. He tipped his head slightly as she offered to tel, her story... he certainly was interested.

(hmm... maybe her herd abandoned her when she was young then she was abused by a stallion?)

Lily took a deep breath and began. "I was born in a field under a tree. My mother named me and then died, right then and there, leaving me to fend for myself. I wandered the hills until i found a herd of about 20 horses. They were all pretty nice to me, seeing that I was alone and abandoned, but then a pack of lions attacked and killed the two leaders of the herd, killing many more foals with them. They didn't eat any adults except the leaders, and I narrowly escaped, fleeing for my life and finding another herd to stay in. After about five months, I had been through seven herds, each one deserting me or leaving me for dead after an attack. Eventually, I found a herd that accepted me as an equal, not saying I was 'weak and useless' or 'pathetic and cheap'. So I lived with them for about a year until a new stallion came. He didn't have a name, but he wanted us to call him 'master' and 'leader'. Everyone in my herd obeyed, afraid of what would happen if they didn't, but I stood up to him, and that was probably the worst mistake I could have made in my life. He terrorized me, and I eventually fled that herd too, but not without getting very wounded in the process. I never trusted my life with a herd again, and then, after living off the land for a few more years, I found you." Lily stared at West, the story of her life finally being revealed to someone other than herself.

West flicked his ears and listened, really quite surprised Lily would actually trust him enough to say this. The story was so... depressing... but he knew what she was feeling. Almost every stallion had a slight knowledge of what she was feeling, being rejected and kicked out. -Not all stallions want to take over a herd- West thought sadly, though he focused on what Lily was saying. "Well... I'm very sorry for what you had to go through.." He said quietly, running over what she had said in his head
