Lilac was laying on her side, her legs ached. She had rested all day and was restless. She got up, she kept her balance and started walking over to Farnight. She nickered "Hello Farnight, thank you for bringing me moss. It help a lot". She snorted and went back to the cave, wondering where the beta of the herd was...where was Wildfire?

Farnight is really worried about Tigress. The mare just seemed so withdrawn of late, and ever since the first cougar attack - no ever since the move into the meadow, she seemed to be socialising less and less. The one horse she seemed to want to make a connection with is the beta, Wildfire. Farnight thought Wildfire was a kind and gentle stallion, worthy of the beta position, and he respected him. He hoped, that if Tigress befriended him, he would look out for her.

As Tigress walked with Wildfire, still keeping her eye on the herd, she kept sneaking glances his way. She couldn't help but notice how pretty it was when the sun shone off his coat.

Lilac trotted up to Farnight, "Hey, do you know where Wildfire is? I feel like he has been missing for a while..."

Arion looked nervous. "Um, okay. Well, ever since I met you... I've really liked you." Arion said, very embarrassed. She looked up at Sultan and gave him a nervous smile.

"I am pretty sure he went with Tigress. He wanted to show her something." Farnight said. "Would you like to go for a walk?"

The mare looked stressed, and a nice walk would do her some good.

Lilac was getting suspisous on Tigress, she had been hanging out so much with Wildfire...maybe she was a bit jealous...

"Yes...I think that would be fine, one second." the mare replied.

"Sultan? Can you look after the herd when I'm gone? Wildfire is out and I'm going for a walk with Farnight." Lilac neihed to Sultan, waiting for an answer back.

Farnight walked alongside Lilac, the fall air brisk against his flank. "You know, we are quite lucky. Things could have gone a lot worse." He sighed. "However, it would have been better if they did not happen at all." Lilac's black coat camofauged with the dark evening background, and she was hardly visible. "The herd will recover, and life will go on." He said, half to himself.

Sultan looked down at her and smiled chuckling and nickered softly before he looked over in the direction of Lilac. "Yeah go ahead the herd is safe under my watch" He neighed giving her an answer before he looked at Arion. "Is that what you've been worried about bringing up to me ?"

"Yes, I want this herd to thrive...I feel like I'm letting every horse down, Wildfire and you have been so helpful, I couldent be more thankful...I'm hoping I can live up to what my parents were...They were great leaders, always fighting for the herd, I feel like I havent been fighting, I feel as though I'm not fit for alpha." Lilac stopped, she hung her head, not looking at Farnight, she felt to emmbarased by her words.
