When they reached the woods, Wildfire slowed, Tigress following suit. He tested the air to follow the scent of their herd and trotted easily through the trees. He looked over at the chestnut beside him. Her blue eyes were so deep and full of life and happiness. When she glanced at him he caught himself staring and laughed at himself. He shook the thoughts from his head and turned his attention to the world around them. Squirrels were hopping from tree to tree, and he saw a few does in the distance, bounding off at the sight of something moving. It was cooler beneath the canopy of leaves and weren't many bugs. As the continued, they broke through the edge of the tree line and continued across the plain, following the hoof prints in the still soft ground and the scent in the air. He picked his pace back up to a slow trot and they traveled across the tall grass, the sun warming the ground, rays of light skimming their backs, warming them as well. The soft breeze carried strands of their mane and tails to the side. Even though he couldn't wait to get back to the herd, it was so peaceful, so silent and calm right now that, he didn't want this moment to end.

Suddenly, while Farnight was still lying down in the dust, he heard a "Quack" and lashed out with his back legs, leaping up to his feet. "I'm being attacked!" He exclaimed. "Help!!" As he turned around to face his foe, he saw nothing. "Where did it go?!" He swung his head around in frustration. Then, looking down, he saw a brown duck at his feet. "AHHHH! A duck!!" She shied and reared, attacking his foe. Then he galloped away, shouting "Wildfire! Tigress!" As he cantered away from the duck.

Wildfire and Tigress continued to cross the plains until he heard their names being called. He moved swiftly into a canter and going around another tree line saw the herd. Then he saw Farnight running around bucking and rearing like a maniac. When Wildfire saw the cause he cracked up laughing. "It's just-It's just a duck." His sentence broke up between gasps for air as he shook his head and walked over to Farnight. He heard Tigress laughing beside him, causing Farnight to glance at the ground, an embarrassed look on his face. Wildfire walked over to him and nuzzled him, giving him a gentle smile. "It's alright, we all get scared silly for no reason some times." When he looked up and grinned sheepishly at the two of them, they wandered around the herd, searching for Lilac. When he saw her, he nickered, waiting to see her reaction to them being there sooner than expected.

"Oh." Farnight had an embarrassed look on his face. "I thought that there was something else." He tossed his head around sheepishly. As he did so, he hit his head on a branch. "Ouch! That hurt!" "Well, how are you two?" Farnight wondered where those two had disappeared to, as they had obviously come back to the herd because of his yelling. "I wouldn't let nothing happen to you" Sultan stood there watching her before he nuzzled her hoping to cheer her up hearing she was remembering the death of her parents. "I understand your worried but we also can't rush with trying the timing isn't right"

Arion smiled. She nuzzled Sultan back in a more cheerful way. "Okay. Thank you." She said. She was so greatful for Sultan. He cared for her the way her parents did. Edited at November 28, 2022 11:34 AM by Brookfield Stables

Tigress laughed hysterically when she saw what Farnight was running from. She was so glad to be home! Yet, her time spent in the woods with Wildfire had been magical, and she almost wished it hasn't come to an end so soon. She pulled her thoughts, and her laughter, together quickly and looked up at Farnight. "We are doing good," Tigress responded. "How is the herd?" Tigress saw Wildfire conversing with Lilac and figured she'd give them a moment. Besides, she needed to catch up with Farnight, she hadn't seen him since she got injured.

"Not bad. I think they are getting a little restless. Farnight called out to Lilac, "Hey, how's the herd doing?" Wildfire and Tigress stood there, still silently giggling. "What's so funny?" Farnight said indignantly. "I only ran into a bush!" Then, realising how hilarious that was as he said that out loud, he joined in, his laughter echoing around the path. "How have you been?" He directed the question to Tigress, as the laughter abated. "I haven't talked in a while, though it looks like you have all the company you need!" Farnight chuckled.

*Eek! Hi everyone, it's Green Forest! I was recovering from surgery so I wasn't on. Do yall think we can bring this back?* ~ Lilac gave a slight nod to Farnight saying the herd was okay, Lilac wasn't okay though...she was still a bit upset about the whole Wildfire and Tigeress situation but did agree that they were cute. "Follow me, Brook, I'm going to properly introduce you to the second in command of this herd." Lilac walked over to Wildfire, Brook following slowly behind. She cleared her throat when she got to the stallion, "Wildfire, I would like to introduce you to a new herd member.". She hadn't discussed it with either Brook or Wildfire but had made up her mind, Brook was going to be joining the herd. He probably knew which ways were safest to travel and where some grazing grounds were...without cougars. Lilac glared at the thought of the beasts, they made her feel sick to the stomach.
