Given the timing, Peter had to wonder if that was really why she was leaving "I hope I haven't made you uncomfortable?" He asked quietly.

"No no, I still have to ride 6 horses, check Trouble and go to the feed store before I go out to dinner tonight" she winced as she remembered the deal.

"Oh wow, that is a lot to do!" Peter nodded though he was still disappointed. Of course he wondered who she was having dinner with but didn't want to pry.

She led Harper down the path, "Bye Peter" she jogged toward her car, Harper caught up and started lopping beside her.

"Bye" Peter sighed as he watched her go, while Barney whined too. Peter hoped the fact Jules was jogging meant her leg wasn't too bad, but he was still rather worried.

She got in her truck, opened the door and patted the seat. Harper leaped in and crawled over to the other side, she got in herself and started driving.

Peter plodded back along the trail. It felt a lot further this time, he couldn't be totally certain if he hadn't regained all of his strength or if it was more because he missed Jules. Post-surgery weakness certainly wasn't the reason Barney was subdued as well now she and her dog had left. He was glad that Jules appeared to have made it back without her leg giving out again but he was still concerned, especially with her planning to ride multiple horses too.

"Good girl " she drove onto the main highway.
