Well, I was due for a good fall. I got launched twice by an angry five year old gelding today. He's literally never pulled those antics before, but naturally he had to with me. I don't mind falling off, but I'm worried I might have actually hurt myself this time. I landed on a part of my back I injured years ago in a stupid jumping fall. My chiropractor made me get x-rays today, and I'm hoping I didn't fracture anything. I saw a rather suspicious looking line on one of the vertebrae and none of the others, and I'm really really hoping that's not a spinal fracture. If I'm lucky, it'll be nothing. Happy thoughts, heating pads, and ibuprofen. In the meantime, I'll be stressing and worrying. The real trouble is I have a competition this weekend with my FEI horse, and it's a qualifier for a much larger competition. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I can't afford to miss this one. Right now it feels a little like my riding dreams are flashing before my eyes and I might be about to lose everything when I was so close. I don't want to get ahead of myself because I don't even know yet, but geez, you do not want to get dumped that hard so close to a major competition..! Talk about stressful!

Oh no! I hope it's nothing, that's such a nightmare scenario.

Good luck has been achieved! Thankfully, nothing is broken, I'm just sore and need a little bit of rest. My chiropractor said, and I quote, "Well, your x-rays all look good, so thankfully I don't have to have an argument with you that I'm not going to win". You can tell my chiro has to deal with equestrians on the regular. I'm still a little worried about my performance this weekend, and whether this'll cause problems down the line because I rarely have injuries that don't end up chronic. For now, though, I'm just thankful it wasn't worse and I can ride. Hopefully that'll be my dose of stress for this particular show. *knocks on wood with crossed fingers*
