So I'm in college and I'm looking for a part time job to get me started as I plan on moving across in about a year. I've tried just about every website (indeed yard and groom etc) and even gone into places to see if they have a part time job available. I've never had a job as I've had a pretty rigorious schedule throughout high school/begininng of college and I am in despereate need of work experience so when I move I can get a more stable job. The only issue is, all of the entry level jobs (including waitress, cashier, hostess etc) require at least 1 year of previous work experience. I've been looking and applying for months now and nowhere has even sent me a "Thank you for your application but we are going with a different applicant" email. I just don't know what to do at this point especially since I'm in a smaller town and I don't want to drive 50+ miles everyday for work. The other issue is that I need a job with flexible hours as I am in college and I show on the weekends. So that makes the job search even harder. If anyone who has more life/job experience has any advise I'd love to hear it as I am at a loss. |

Unfortunately, this pretty much seems to be the norm and sums up the experiences I've been having since late Jan. The best thing I can really suggest is to make sure you're uploading a resume and cover letter. There's sites that have both examples and builders that you can use. Also make sure to have someone look over both to see if there's any typos you've missed. |

Honestly, right now i know a lot of places are in need of workers. I work at Wawa and have for years. The pay is really not bad. I get paid about $20 per hour. I dont know where your looking for a job. But you can also do the night shifts too during collage. I honestly forget if you need to have previous work experience. But ya.. Sorry if this is totally not what your looking for LOL |

while you're looking you could try doordash or instacart! You can work whenever you want and get to pick what orders (how much you make essentially) you take. Obviously not a long term thing, but if you can't get in anywhere it's an option for extra money. You could potentially use it as experience, not completely sure though. I've had tons of my friends that are in college do it just as a side job and they've actually been able to make a pretty decent amount off it. |
