I got my first horse about 4 months ago. I absolutely adore him, and he's a really good boy. I got him from a shady trail riding place as a rescue. They treated all the animals like crap, but were specifically singling him out and treating him horribly. I won't go into the details, but it was bad. We bought him and got him the hell out of there. I still wish I was able to do more though. Two horses in particular I wish I could have helped. A mare that I would guess and say she was around 7(??). She was healthy and strong, and so they used her for a lot of trail rides. She was beginning to have the same wounds as Maple (my horse). She was so so sweet, and I think about her a lot. I wish I could help her. Another one was an older horse, probably in his later teens. Has issues with his joints I believe, and rarely did trail rides except for the occasional young person. He was so so happy when the little ones would go for a ride with him. Such a nice and gentle horse that I wish I could have gotten him aswell. I just wish I could have helped all of the horses there, those two I think about a lot though. It's eating away at me, despite me knowing theres not more I can do (we already called the humane society and a couple rescues, as far as I know nothing has happened.) People are always looking for nice horses. If you come across anyone in search of one, direct them towards that place with those specific horses in mind perhaps. I'm sorry you can't do more. It sucks. :(

Oh thats a good idea, I'll definitely do that if someone is looking for a nice horse. Thanks, and yeah. Makes me so sad and angry that such gentle souls are being treated like that. I hope more people will call the authorities and bring attention to what happens there

Unfortunately this kind of animal abuse will happen all of the time somewhere around the world. Often as soon as it is connected with earning money from the animals. It is awesome that you want to help and that you hot a horse from them to give him a great life. But don't feel to bad with yourselves that you are not able to get out the others, too. It is really really hard. But you will learn over the years that you can not safe each and every mistreated horse. You have to keep trying ... this is awesome. But don't let this bad feeling take over your whole life!

I hope the fortunes of the other two horses mentioned and all the others still in that place improve and they find better lives and better owners ASAP, but you can't beat yourself up for not being able to take them all. You didn't mistreat these animals and it sounds like you are doing all that you can to help them. You got one out of there and I'm sure are giving her a much better life than she's known, which is huge. It's like that old starfish on the beach story, you can't rescue them all but for the one you did you changed their life. Major kudos to you for giving this mare a home, and again, I will hope these other horses find their own soft landings sooner than later. Thank you for stepping up for them, as a random internet stranger I appreciate it and I know the horses appreciate it, too.

Kuewi Yes, I have noticed that often times people prioritize money over the wellbeing of their animals. Its makes me sad, but its a mindset that is hard to change, and I try to avoid those types of people. I'm trying to get it out of my mind, and I'm glad I saved my horse. I am hoping that more people will call about that place and bring awareness to what happens there. . Coruscant Me too. They are all such nice horses, and I hope they will get a new home where they are loved. It's hard because I'm only one person and it feels like I can't do much. So it was good to hear what you had to write. Thank you <3
