So for those who don't know, I got a horse back in May. Yeah, it wasn't the best path seeing as I had barely any horsey experience, but it happened. So here I am, 6 months later with a lovely horse named Maple
I thought we were doing great, and all was going well. 5 days ago he got his feet done by the farrier, and I wasn't there with him (because I thought it was Wednesday for his feet, not Tuesday), but it's the usual farrier, and so since my trainer was there, she took Maple out for me and held his lead rope while he got his feet done. When we first got Maple he was very rude about giving his feet, and it took a lot of time, but now he is quite polite about it (still working on getting him better for is back feet, but I can clean out all four pretty easily). He had a big fear of the farrier in the beginning as well, but he's good about it now.
When I went to see him that evening after his feet had been done (my trainer was there and explained that she had taken him out for it), he was a little jumpy, but he was fine. Reassured him and did our regular routine of grooming and exercise. I take him to jump down in the big arena (on the ground, we jump together and look like wild insane people, and it's great lol), nothing out of the ordinary.
He was a super good boy, walked him around some and put him away for the night.
The next day when I went to see him though, he didn't want to leave his house, was walking really slowly, and kept stopping and refusing (he hasn't ever done this before). So I kne something was off. I tied him at the tie rail, and then I saw how he was favoring one of his back feet. Asked one of my friends at the barn if they could take a look, and we both felt his leg, and it seemed okay. I walked him a little bit and he seemed fine, we thought he was being dramatic. Turned him out in the round pen, and he just stood there (normally he ambles around, and sniffs and rolls, etc). So I tried lunging him, and he just refused, standing there (another weird thing) so I walked him around on lead rope, and my friend said there he was definitely off. Took him out and tied him again, and then I noticed his stomach felt super tight. My trainer (thankgoodness) came about 20 minutes later to tend to her horses, and she said he most likely caught himself in the fence. She said his back was super sensitive (felt it myself and confirmed it). She gave him electrolytes and a soupy bucket (no hay) and banamine. Brought him back to his house. The next day (thursday) I took him out in the morning, and he seemed a little bit better (but still refusing), I brushed him, and he got another soupy bucket and electrolytes. No hay. Went again that evening, and my trainer said to soak an alfalfa flake and give that to him, and bring him back to his house.
Yesterday though, he was worse. He didn't want to walk, he was in pain, and just overall sad. I brushed him some, and she said he needs a week of stall rest, no going out. It's only a week, but I'm so worried and sad. I'm really hoping he gets better, and this definitely through a loop in my plans. Things have already been not so great, and this was the last oomph. Went home crying and worried. I don't even know for sure how he got injured. I'm going to go see him today, and at this point I'm just hanging on because of Lucky, and the hope that he'll be okay at the end of the week.
So yeah. Fun times :(
.
TLTR: my horse got injured and is on a week of stall rest, and life is rough

Oh no! I hope he's okay.
Why no hay, if you mind me asking?

Thank you, me too
I'm going to be going there later, and I guess we'll see
.
We were worried about colic, but his stomach is better so now he's having soaked hay, going to double check with my trainer, but I think today he should be able to have regular hay.

This just keeps getting worse and worse. Maple seems better (he's definitely going crazy on stall though). But Luckys tail is messed up, and I just want his tail to go back to normal. All the vets here are costly, (obviously hes going to get medical care, I'm not one of those owners), but this is seriously bad timing because money is already tight.
I also breed and raise Netherland dwarf bunnies, and my best mother early on lost a baby (baby wasn't born right), which was sad. However they are now a month old, and another one isn't doing well. She takes such good care of her babies, and the other sibling gets along really well, and it all seemed to be going great and now everything is falling apart.

Lucky has a vet appointment scheduled for next Thursday (unless someone cancels between now and then). I'll see how the bunnies and Maple are doing later. I feel more relieved knowing that he has an appointment scheduled, and hopefully my other animals will be doing well also

Oh isn't this lovely Mr Maple has fucked himself YET AGAIN WHOOP WHOOP
😭😔😑
This time he did something and now his back left leg from the hock down IS A LITERALLY FAT ASS RECTANGLE
Twice the size of his other back leg. There's no definition in it. So tomorrow the vet gets called and most likely a Neverending stall rest. Fuck man and we were starting to make progress under saddle. I think he pulled a tendon, happened to my trainers horse took EIGHT MONTHS to heal
Fuck. It. All.
