I was about to strangle some kids at the barn today. We had a Christmas event with a ton of vendors and it was nice, but one of our rescues was getting anxious because of the guy singing (not very good at all) and then this vendors kids were running around raising hell. So the rescue (Ria) was getting nervous because despite all the signs this kid climbs the gate not the fence, the gate and got to the top and yelled at the already anxious ria, FORKY THE DORKY! No idea what that means but it scared the shit out of her. He climbs down then tries to climb through the gate but I stopped him. Damn kid then goes to the next rescue in the pen one over and calls her ugly because her leg is screwed up due to fused hocks and tried to throw mud at her. Then this little asswipe watched one of the horses piss and says ewww he's peeing his pants! Then proceeds to attempt to climb into his pen to feed him mud. And his father told them off once but they continued.
another thing that happened was some bitch rode my horse without my permission with my show saddle. My barn is honestly really nice and maintained and the owner has been my trainer since I was 13 so our families are pretty close and my little brother and their kid are close. But some girl came with her horse who got injured minorly on a trailer ride and she has been taking out other peoples horses without permission. The thing that pisses me off most is my horse was on a short break after a ton of shows and events in one week so I had her resting. This bitch took her out with my custom show saddle that is really special and took my horse on a ride behind the barn where there is a trail and she didn't take care of my horse before tacking her up so now she is in stall rest because she had a pebble in her hood that got lodged deeper and deeper and now she has hood bruising but it's not enough for me be able to do anything. It wasn't major enough for a vet luckily but when I see her again she gonna regret it.
edit: she hasn't really been taking out random horses just ones belonging to friends of the owner or the owners "bEcAUsE sHe iS AllOwED tO" because of boarders rights? Is that a thing now?

Had I seen that I would have beaten the tar out of the kid. You never take anyone else's horse without their permission. This kid has no right to anyone's horse. If she was at the stable I used to work with she and her horse would be tossed out or boarding fees would be raised really high so they would still leave. |

I'm so sorry Blue I don't understand how kids can be so cruel hopefully the kid who scared your horses is not allowed back and I'd beef up security poor horses I bet they were scared to death your lucky you or another horse was not hurt that's dangerous there are rules at the barn for a reason, I hope your horse gets better if it were my horse I would never let them ride it again or kick them out of the stable. |

I've been trying to move but I can't find anything that isn't over the top expensive, the place I'm at is $300 a month and I can keep up with that but I can't find anything with nice facilities and reasonably priced, the closest I can find is is almost $500 a horse for pasture boarding. Where I live isn't the the nicest so it's hard to come by anything good. |

sorry to hear about this blue ): I had a similar experience, one woman at my yard rode my horse with all the wrong ill fitting tack without my permission. because the "thought it was a lesson horse" even though he is in the line of stables specific to boarders. That kid sounds like such an ass, If I was his mum he would be getting some very harsh talking to. |

Something I forgot to add, if it will help with any advice, my horse IS a lesson horse so I can get a small discount on boarding but before being used for lessons I am always asked permission. The woman takes her out because she is a lesson horse but she doesn't ask any permission at all. I'm not sure if that makes a difference though. |

If your horse is a lesson horse to help with boarding, then the person using the horse ie the instructor not the learner should ask to take the horse out. The student should never take out a lesson horse unless the instuctor tells them to. When I was learning to ride that's what my instuctor did. One of my lesson horses I learned on was owned by my friend, but I would never take Bramble out without permission. There were times where my friend couldn't ride him and would have me go over to work him, and she'd let my teacher know about it so Bramble wasn't used by other students at that time. |
