Okay can someone explain to me what not going up wk4, but having all up wk5 means? Is that good, mediocre, or bad?

Thankfully our barn is in a separate part from where they were so even with everything flying they would have been okay. They did good and were in the corner of the property in the woods.

GOod for you. I'm non-functional with less than 6 hours of sleep. And me making clinical mistakes because I'm exhausted isn't a good thing.

Cold drafts and frost on the inside of a window January 13, 2024 02:28 PM

Well last night where I live was freezing, like -19 below with a wind chill of -30/-40, so yeah ass biting cold. When I went to bed last night I noticed it was super cold around my bed. Well turns out my window by my bed wasn't properly sealed so massive cold draft in the room even with the heater going full blast.

Found frost on the inside, did the candle test and found the panes that were the most troubling. So needed to make plans to go get some rope caulk, or weather stripping to seal the dang window in the morning. The good news I was able to stay warm with all the covers, flannel pjs, and 5 of the 7 cats sleeping on the bed with me.

I was able to get some weather stripping, and managed to finally seal the damned window, but there are two very small gaps because of how the window was designed, but over all I'm happy with my work.

Once I get some rope caulk I'll remove what I used today and use the rope caulk. The store was out of what I wanted so I had to make due with the rubber gap stuff. So once as I said I get the rope caulk the other stuff is going bye-bye.

Ooooooh. Sounds real bad, really serious.
When I was 18 I was an au pair in Norway.
Over new year in the 'huiter' (hut - but posh one) there was 3 inches of ice on inside of my bedroom window pane.
Our Champagne froze.
The thermometer froze.
Over the radio we heard our area up in the mountains was -45°C.
However the heated heart of the hut was warm and cozy and we were only there for 2 weeks, which makes all the difference in the world.
Do ask for help, broken window in this weather is very bad indeed.

My family great grandparents are from Sweeden and Norway. So cold weather is kind of bred into me lol.

I got the windows sealed without a problem. There's only a small gap or two that I couldn't get with the rubber tape crap I hate using. It's why I wanted rope caulk more easily moldable and can fit easier in the window for a better seal. Then I would use the other stuff as an extra overlay.

Good news is starting tomorrow we will be warming up where I live, it'll still be below 32 degrees F, or 0 degress C, but it'll be out of the negative digits. Then towards the weekend it'll be in the 40's so yay. Maybe some of this snow will melt off and I can do a better job at sealing the windows. Oh yeah I also gotta weather seal a few doors upstairs.

I like the cold but not this cold lol.

Phew glad to hear it is going to get better. It's getting lighter.
