It's almost looking like it would be easier in the long run to live apart for another year and just buy a trailer. The mortgage on a cheap trailer would be cheaper than the rent on a crappy apartment in a high-crime area.

Granted the house was old, but it was fine to live in. And the people had room for their 2 horses, 1 cow, and a crap tin of rabbits and chickens
