I believe they have to be trained up first, just like how you'd put an Elite gelding into a show without enough training sessions and it'd still usually lose.
Even on trained horses, the mile counter is reverting to zero so it appears that you are making no progress, but the progress bar is updating. I haven't gotten a photo in four trips today though and I'm out of half trained (50%) explorers.

there is a huge difference in the game since over the last two days. Every horse I use gets spooked and runs away even on my side account. Its not even fun anymore. Im glad there is a discussion on it so maybe it can be changed some.

Before this update I never had problems with untrained horses, but now I do. Oh my side, with trained horses, they always spook and run back 10-20 miles... with elite bravery lol

I have also had the problem where miles into the woods are set back to zero when the horse overcomes an obstacle.
I always assumed that if I'm 3 miles from home and the horse spooks and runs 10 miles BACK home that I've just taken the scenic route back :D

I made some adjustments today. Please read the News.

I have noticed that even though I get the text for successfully completing an obstacle, it takes away any progress I made miles-wise. So basically, it's removing miles traveled whether I pass the obstacle or spook.

That should be fixed now, thanks!

Message I get sometimes: "Your horse listens to you and strides boldly forward. Seems their bravery is kicking in. This horse isn't feeling very brave." Edited at August 17, 2017 12:30 PM by Silver Creek Farms

Another one -
Your horse listens to you and strides boldly forward. Seems their bravery is kicking in. This horse needs more groundwork.
