Sorry, I'm back. Keep your 1yo fodder so you get 1000 ebs per foal. That's what I do 🤷

Woohoo! I finally got some riding pictures! Baloos first western ride!

He looks over bent in the last picture but you have a light contact on the rein

Not sure if anyone really cares, but I figured I might as well share what Baloo eats.
1 1/2 buckets of alfalfa cubes
2 BIG scoops of Total Equine grain
1 BIG scoop of oats
Occasionally I alternate the proportions to 2 scoops of oats and one scoop of Total Equine.
Also, given the amount of food even, Baloo is the fastest eating horse I have ever met.

Add linseed

He looks over bent because he's playing with the bit in that picture making a fuss with head
Baloo gets assessed by an equine nutritionist and therefore I won't be adding linseed as he's eating what he needs
I only jump single fences at home as he's still young and green. I have a trainer that I work with as well. I don't find jumping exercises to be affective with the green TBs until they have at least a few months consistent over fences
~ Also, anything you need to know about him is on the front page. Please read that and my updates :) Notice he is very very green and also young so he is not perfect. I have not updated with full body pictures recently so all of the ones you've seen are from at least 2-3 weeks ago before he came home and was put on supplements.

Update:
There's a week until show day which means last minute cram sessions for dressage. I've jumped frequently throughout the recent week to be able to make dressage the sole focus for the last 7 days. We have run through the test twice but I prefer to perform it in pieces when practicing to focus properly on a certain maneuver. I've really been working to improve his transitions and getting his leads which, has definitely improved. The test is simple just circles and going across the diagonal though at the very beginning the halt to medium trot is quite difficult as Baloo tosses his head up going hollow in his back. It's a habit I am working very hard to break and he's slowly listening (with the inclusion of a few tantrums). I'll probably do one or two more jump days before Sunday as I need to practice oxers and throw together a little course. We're competing at pre-beginner novice as it's what my trainer suggested considering he is still green and it's his first outing of this sort. Depending on scores I plan to start beginner novice after this event. The jumps at pre-BN are 2'3" and Baloo being very confident at this level should do quite well. We have been schooling consistent at 2'6" and 2'9" at home as my trainer suggested I always school a level above to prepare him for bigger heights in the future and it really has helped him improve going from something slightly bigger to the 2'3" height.
I will update again soon :)
Oh, also... a couple days ago marked 2 months with Baloo! Can't believe the progress we've both made since becoming a team. Bringing Baloo into my life was risky but it turned out to be one of the best decisions ever. I've been handed so many new opportunities and met so many new amazing people that help us so so much. Without Baloo and taking a leap of faith to give him a chance I wouldn't be doing what I am today. Hoping for many many more amazing months with him :D
