Ya'll don't know me, you don't know who I am how I ride or what I do. We had multiple vets look at him and we asked them if what we where planning was ok they all said yes, we asked multiple other horse people look at him, people we know and everyone said he was fine to do what we want to do, every horse is different you don't know my horse, I've spent a lot of time around this horse watching him and grooming him, I understand that that's y'all's personal opinions but it's not my opinion for me, it is different for every horse my horse is mentally mature enough to handle it he's calm and unfazed by anything, and I don't ask him to do anything I know he can't do, and there are older horses that mentally are not ready to do what I want, there are some horses that I would never ride, I analyze every single thing and took everything in to make sure he will be ok, and if yall don't like that then yall can leave because when everyone I know says I can I'm not going to listen to people I don't know tell me otherwise yall have done nothing to prove to me that yall know anything and that's just my personal opinion hope yall can understand but if not then just leave, because this doesn't concern you. I wanted to track our progress and if none of yall can be supportive then I will do that another way, you all have your opinions and I respect that but I also have my own opinion and that will always come first. |

As long as you're working with vets and know what you're doing, keep at<3 Just keep in mind you'll see a shift(no matter how small) in his mental capacity when he's about 6-ish(usually, for some it's 4 and others 7-8). I've seen horses be ruined because people get too excited and expect too much from a young horse. I don't want to see that happen to you and your lovely boy<3 |

Respectively, anyone who is working with a vet wouldn't be jumping a 2 yr old. He's also 13.3 hands and will probably grow much more so his growth plates are obviously not fused. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I've worked with many QH breeders and have lots of experience with the breed. Also friends with a sports medicine vet, so I know what happens when horses are pushed. I believe you know the horse, but you should be aware that it isn't common to push them early on. Especially jumping. |

Another personal opinion, but you should expect some push back when posting a forum like this. The Equestrian community can be very nit picky of each other. Everyone has their own opinion and ways of doing things. In the end, it's all based on the safety of the horse. No on is attacking you as it may seem, but are concerned for the longevity of your horse. I'm sure you know what you are doing and no one is saying you don't. I think it's fair for everyone to share their personal beliefs and experiences. I personally have dealt with the heartache of dealing with a horse who started and pushed to early. It is devastating when something you love and care for so much is struggling due to human error. I do not wish it on anyone and that is the reason for my opinions that I stated before. In the end, I wish you and your boy the best. |

I am not jumping him at 2 I don't know why you think I am but I'm not. And yes I did but I also believe that the nitpickyness needs to stop, no one really knows the other horses, just simply ask what the vets think and see who has approved of it unless it is seen someone is actually abusing a horse I'm ok with questioning me but not upright saying I'm wrong and that is where the community needs to change |

There are other ways to get answers, ask questions first you'll offend less people. Instead of saying "studies hove shown..." ask "what has your vet said about this" and then I can respong with "I've had multiple vets ok my plans" instead of saying "you shouldn't work him this young" ask "why do you want to work him so young" and I can respond with "because I know my horse and I know he is both mentally and physically prepared for what I'm asking" it never has to escalate and no one has to be another or offended, you never know who someone is or what they do, you only know what you know so the best way to know more is to ask questions and then maybe you will learn a missing part of the story that clarifies. |

Well the equestrian community also needs to change the fact that most aren't open to constructive criticism. We are all in the sport together and have something we could learn from each other.

I think you should have expected this and not been so offended by personal opinions. None of us know you, if you don't want to listen you don't have to. But again each and every one of us are allowed to look at what you decided to post on a public forum in our own way. |

I don't think anyone here was trying to personally attack you - Owning let alone breaking horses is always subjective.We all have different opinions and ways of doing things. . I am a firm believer though myself that the only thing that is rarely subjective in life is science - Most horses take up to 8 years to fully develop and for plates to finish fusing. Scientifically speaking, there are dozens of studies showing the physical long-term damage of pushing horses too young. There is much controversy in the racing industry for example due to the correlation of breaking horses before 2 and negatively impacting them for further life. Which i believe is all everyone here was just trying to state. . I agree it is very easy for everyone here to sit and criticize you, when in fact we don't know you and your horse. I have a 4 year old I'm just starting to back now, my friend started riding hers at 3 as every horse, circumstance and rider is different. But you do also see, that all we have read thus far is a 2 year old horse being ridden and jumping mentioned ( Even if this is intended for later in life). As i say we all have different opinions, and what you choose to do with your animals etc is not really anyone else's concern. . But do try to remember that most people are just looking out for you and your horse. The way i look at it, Criticism isn't always necessarily a bad thing in life! Despite its many pitfalls,the one advantage of the equestrian community is the amount of advice and knowledge you can gain from people in different walks of life. . The main part really, what im trying to say is that everyone does wish you and your boy the best - He's really a lovely looking horse and im sure you'll both go far together! |

yes. And btw, QHs don't stop growing any quicker than other breeds, they take about 8 years to stop growing entirely(mentally as well), but that's mainly the big flat bones that grow slower. You can cause serious issues by riding and jumping(no matter how small) a young horse, typically only polework is done on them until they're about 4 :) - And remember, it's best to not expect him to do any form of jumping this young, I think hoping to do small(8"-12") crossrails near his 4th birthday would be safer. Don't push him too hard this young, you'll regret it later in his life :)
Agreed. My 7 year old is still growing, though he isnt a QH. Two is really young. |

It's not that it was personal opinions it's in insensitiveness, words mattered and a lot of those posts where worded as an attack on me. and I have been through way to much to put up with anything that sounds even vaguely like an attack. And that is why I am making it a big deal. It may not be to other people ( remember it's different being the person attacked then it is watching them be attacked) but people have put me through to much I will take constructive criticism but I will not take judgement because other people have gotten me into trouble so now I don't put up with that stuff, yall didn't know that but you do now so can we just stop cause I'm done with it, you've made your point and I've made mine maybe yall didn't mean to attack me but you did now you know it's in the past but if yall continue this in the forum I made for my boy I will not put up with it any longer.
