He is sound again for the moment! Just doctoring the wound and lunging. Going to ride him again today and start getting him back into shape. Thankfully we have over a week as show dates were moved!

Uhhhhh so it was an... interesting day to say the least lol. First of all Al has become quite the dirty stopper (doesn't get me off though :P) so that was a huge issue going into today. I honestly had plans of going up to 2'6"+ but didnt even go past 2'. It's been a confidence struggle lately for both of us so we really worked on that today. Our 18" round was okay, too small for him to want to do anything really and then our first 2' rounds were a DISASTER. They put up a triple bar hogs back which scared the shit out of me because he's never seen one before so our first jumps over that we're not good at all (literally demolished it) and he ran out though the 2nd combo in both rounds. But our last 2' round was beautiful! I honestly just ran him around the whole thing and we were able to end on a very positive note!

As for next weekend I'll be doing 3 or 4 2' rounds and the starter level derby :D

Really couldn't be more proud of my little dude, I was being a total chicken and he did so well. Couldn't be more happy with him and his grumpy little self! Plus we got tons of compliments on his talent and lots of encouraging words to keep us going!

I have a mustang, he is HUGE 17.4 hands his name is Dead Fire aka Pistol, he is bought from BLM captured in Wisconsin. He is a buckskin with light black feathers on the back of his leg. I got him for $325 in a auction. We ride western. 6 years old and being trained by me for a show he is gelded. He has won 7 of 10 shows earned 2 seconds and 1 third. He has proven good in the show ring and I am going to keep him till death. For a wild mustang he was easy to bond with.

Doesn't the Bureau of Land Management geld all stallions before adoption? I've also never heard about a wild herd in Wisconsin.

Yes BLM gelds all stallions before adopting them out. There are no exceptions.
