Searching for my OTTBÂ’s half brother and sister! June 8, 2018 07:56 PM

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with searching for OTTBs! I was able to find my gelding dam, but by then she had died of a tumor. IÂ’m not sure how to find horses that have been retired off the track. Of course, you could contact their last known owner. But I have no idea where to start looking for contact information on them.

If anyone is wondering, IÂ’m looking mainly for a grey gelding out of Maysville by Macho Uno whose Jockey Club name was Macho Quito.
I would also be interested in the whereabouts of a mare out of Maysville by the Jockey Club name of Velvet Moss.

Any help on where to look would be appreciated, thanks!

I'm assuming that your boy is Piamento?

It seems as if Velvet Moss is owned by Adena Springs and is up in Canada. She's had two foals, both bred by Adena.

There was a 2013 filly named Bossy Betty Lou (by Street Boss) that broke down in training as a 2 year old.

There is also listed a 2015 filly named Osiris (by Point of Entry), who seems to be unraced.

There is also another half sibling listed to Macho Quito and Velvet Moss, a 2011 mare by Giant's Causeway named Miracle Bridgett. She was the only one not bred in Canada by Adena Springs, so it seems as if Mayville might have been sold after the birth of Macho Quito and exported to the USA (the Giant's Causeway mare is LA bred).

I would say that the first place to try might be Adena Springs for Velvet Moss.

As far as Macho Quito goes, it shows him going through the 2010 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, and selling for $4,000. There's also a note that he was retired in 2013, as a four year old, and the owner planned on him becoming an eventer, but I don't know where the note came from or if it's true. His last race was on September 4th, 2013, and he finished last of nine in a $5,500 claiming race at 6F on the turf at Turf Paradise in Arizona. His last trainer of record was Bill Morris, who doesn't seem very active anymore. He ran a lot of bottom level claimers at small time racetracks.

I can't help more than that, but maybe it's something?

Yes! Piamento is mine. I did track down the last owners of Maysville. They know where Miracle Bridgett is right now I believe so I have her covered!

I will try to check out to see if anyone has contact information on Bill Morris. Mostly the note that Macho Quito was retired to be an eventer caught my attention with him. My guy is also an eventer so I thought it would be cool to know what heÂ’s up to.

Thank you so much!
