Hi, if you want to breed for rating I suggest getting rid of all horses with less than one premuim rating to start off and as you get higher rating start selling any with less than two and so on. If you are going for color than get rid of all simple bays and chesnuts and keep any more complex appy or patterned horses. if both than keep any rare color and get rid of any low combo standard colro horses! and with names just get creative think of you favourite movie or book or even you favourite tree and just name a horse!

I've been trying with the color and sire name combos. Should I geld the stallions to make a gelding army?

What about horses with a rating of AEP? Geld the stallions and FR the mare's with that rating?

yes mares with that rating do not produce very good foals and with geldings you can still show them in the elite disipline. however if you really want a super refined herd I suggest culling off most of your poorly rated horses which so if they have no Premuims or Elites however some poeple prefer to show and slowly get a more refined herd.

Mares can also bring in money in the show string. Any horse can, not just a gelding. And you can also brood the mares out on the side for extra income :)
