im looking for a new bridle for my mare. The one i'm currently using is allright, but its a little old and worn, and i recently got a pay rise so i can afford a new one, yay! she is a thouroughbred, and uses just a normal bridle with single reins. ideally under 130 euros/pounds. any ideas?

Have you tried a micklem bridle? My tb absolutely loves it! All my horses are in them, as they are generally quite smart, comfortablr bridles.

I will say that unless your horse has a real issue that requires a flash or is already going in a flash, I would stay away from getting something with any straps below the bit. There are studies that have shown some health issues associated with nosebands below the bit (flashes, grackles, micklems, drop nosebands, etc.) although the most problematic nosebands are the ones that put pressure on the sensitive area of the lower nasal bone. That said, I highly recommend the Harwich Ergonomic bridle. It is one of the very few anatomical bridles that doesn't have anything below the bit. And if you want to be fancy like me, get a sparkly browband and you'll get tons of compliments.

thank you fenn! yes i know, finding a good bridle without that is an issue for me to. Ive always ridden my mare without a flash, mainly because she has a few teeth issues, and also she is highly sensitive to that kind of thing. thanks for the recomendation!

ive heard a lot of good things about this bridle by Waldhausen. Apparently very comfortable and good for sensitive horses. Also has removable flash.

Had one very similar to this for my warmblood mare. She loved it, I did to. I really like anything with the relief crown piece. I use a similar one on my little grey, will find a pic :) It had a slightly wider headpiece as he was a little uneven in his poll.
