Its on the cannon bone of his left hind leg.
Ok if it was on the cannon there are no muscles on that part of the leg, only tendons and ligaments. I'm assuming this cut was limited to the very front of the leg, the only major structure other than bone in that area is the extensor tendon. If the cut was deep enough this tendon could have been compromised. You said he drags his toe? Does he ever flick it out at the end of a stride?

I also want to say that I am not a vet. I've rehabbed a wide variety of injuries in horses and I have some medical training, but any advice I give here is just that: advice. I cannot formally diagnose anything that could be wrong with this horse, I can only steer you in a possible direction for what COULD be the matter.

It was on the inside of the leg. Im not sure how he did that, but ofc its horses. They find every way to hurt themselves. And no ive never noticed him flick it. But ill go watch a few vids I took of him recently, and see if he flicks it or not.

Well if it was on the inside of the leg then there are many more structures that could potentially be involved, and which one/how severely can't be diagnosed without ultrasounds or other imaging.
