Same void. Thick and dark brown, so the heat is rough. So I have an unstyled shoulder length deathhawk for that reason. Having 1/3 of my hair helps ward off headaches too

For those of you that have competed in Extreme Mustang Makeovers, TIP Challenges, or any other mustang makeover type event, how did you do? What are your tips for others? If you kept your mustang, what do you use them for now?

I recently did the Sacramento TIP Challenge with my Red Rock Lakes yearling, Penny (I even put up our Freestyle routine on YouTube, my channel is Chaylynn's Life). We ended up placing fourth overall and reserve champion rookie trainer. She's currently around 15hh and I string tested her to be about 17hh. I'm hoping to hang onto her for quite awhile and really dive into the dressage/jumping realm with her.

For those that are interested in adopting/training a mustang for a competition, I highly recommend watching videos of how to show! That makes a world of difference to your judges.

Picture of Penny before I got her :)

and Penny at the show when we won our buckle :)

Ahh how cool! It always throws me off when people from games relate to things in real life xD

How does one become a horse trainer? Or a farrier? I really want to work with horses, so I've been a stable hand for the past two years, but I have no idea where to start.

Farrier I believe you go to school
horse trainer I think you can take classes, but a lot of the great ones have spent a lot of time both observing horses and/or learning under another trainer
Sometimes they pay to study under a trainer or they might work in exchange

You don't have to go to school to be a trainer, nor a farrier, but it's definitely a good idea. If I could, I would go work for some high end trainers to learn, but just don't have the means to. Same for farriers. Technically you don't have to go to school (at least in the US), but it's a really good idea. You need to have good knowledge of hoof anatomy (and honestly, a good idea of anatomy in general) and how to approach problems in the correct way. A lot of people shoe/trim their own horses. I'm planning to start trimming my own, but it's taken a lot of research on my end and listening to my own farriers/veterinarians.
If you want to be a farrier for others, having a certificate from a school is a great way to help your reputation. Some people require that of their farriers, while others may not care.
