What would a Masters in Equine Studies look like? Having gone to college and been working as a daily care provider (stable hand to barn manager) in barn settings for over twenty years, I've never worked or interviewed at a place that cared about schooling. It mattered if I could do the job. However, the experience and knowledge I gained during my schooling made it worthwhile to me - but I only have an Associates. I would go back in a heartbeat - but schooling is expensive! Getting back into riding shape after a few years away is excruciating! I used to work on half-passing and now I'm trying to not pass out from posting trot several laps. The body/brain disconnect is making it very hard too. My brain is shouting things for my body to do and my body just flops like a sack of potatoes.
I am really fortunate that a friend is letting me leg up on her horse (he's been a pasture puff for a while too), so I'm not wasting a ton of money and time on an instructor to tell me how out of shape I am.
My goal is to feel confident enough to take lessons in a jumping program. |
