This tale that I created has a bit of both Eragon and Harry Potter. Those of you who are Potter fans may no a charachter name in here. But Saphira's rider in my tale is female. Whilst In the book Eragon her rider is male, her rider for this tale is female and her name is Katherine. This is about a dragon and a girl that are haveing a difficult time at school one year at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Note that it is not completly done. And for those of you who are Harry Potter and Eragon fans please feel free to give some ideas on what should happen next.

Here is the tale.

A Play/ Tale About A Dragon Rider And Her Dragon

An alarm clock rings on the nightstand beside Katherines bed. She reaches over to shut it off and yawns. Katherine lowers her mental barriers and with her mind locates Saphira still asleep in her den. She gets up to get ready for school.

Katherine- (goes outside to wake Saphira up) Saphira its time to wake up. We have school.

Saphira-(blinks her eyes as she is waking up. Lowers her mental barriers.And talks to her Rider

Katherine through their mental link) Morning little one. (yawns)

Katherine-(pets Saphira on her scaly nose and hugs her. And talks to her through their mental link) Good morning Saphira. ( gentle humming sounds within Saphiras chest as Katherine hugs her) Ready for school?

Saphira-Yes. (stands up)

Katherine-Ok Ill go get your saddle. (goes to get Saphiras saddle)

Saphira-(as Katherine comes back with the saddle she waits patiently as Katherine puts the saddle on her)

Katherines friend Arya arrives on scene and greets Katherine and Saphira.

Arya- Greetings Katherine! Greetings OMighty Dragon Saphira!

Saphira-(Expanders her mental link so she can speak to Arya) Greetings Arya.

Katherine- Greetings. (confusion enters her as she wasnt expecting Arya to visit) What brings you here? Is something wrong?

Arya- Well Nasuada contacted me and she wanted me to tell you that when you arrive at school to fly Saphira to the edge of the Forbidden Forest. She wants a word with you and said she will be at the Forbidden Forest.

Katherine- Did she say what she needed to talk to me about?

Arya- Not Exactly. She just said it was urgent and to tell you to make sure no one sees Saphira.

Katherine-(To Saphira) Saphira what should I do? This doesnt feel right. Why would she not want anybody to see you? A lot of people at that school have seen you.

Saphira-(turns to Katherine) Something must be going on. (Saphira turns to Arya) Arya what exactly did she say? Did she tell you anything?

Arya- She wouldnt say a lot but she did mention that there is a new teacher at the school. She said the new teacher is from the Ministry of Magic.

Katherine-(starts to get even more confused and through their mental link feels Saphira also confused) Saphira I am not liking the sound of this.

Saphira- Well we dont really know what Nasuada has to say yet. We should do what she says. But just in case, bring your sword.

Katherine-(sighs) Yeah I guess you're right. (To Arya) We will meet her by the Forbidden Forest.

Arya- ok. Um Well, have fun at school. And may the moon and stars watch over you.

Katherine-See you later. And may the moon and stars watch over you also.

Arya leaves.

Saphira- (shakes her head and spreads her massive wings ready to take flight)Alright let us fly. We have many miles to go to get to school.

Katherine-(climbs up to get in the saddle) Let us be off.

Saphira takes flight. 5 hours later they arrive at the school but head straight towards the Forbidden Forest. Nasuada is waiting at the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Katherine-(expands mental mind link to talk to Nasuada) Hello Nasuada.

Nasuada-Hello Rider Katherine. Hello Saphira Brightscales. Can you land please I need to talk to you? It's very urgent.

Katherine-Yea sure.(To Saphira) I wonder what's going on.

Saphira- (lands and takes a step to gain balance) I dont know. (To Nasuada) Whats going on?

Nasuada- (Talks out loud) Saphira you may have to hide either in the Forbidden Forest or somewhere far from the castle.

Saphira-(Saphira growls and roars very loudly.Flames erupt from her nostrils and mouth and her tail is swinging overhead) Why? Whats going on?

Nasuada- (Startled quickly looks around in fear) Saphira! Quiet down! Saphira! Katherine! There is a new teacher at the school and she is from the Ministry of Magic!

Saphira-(growls menacingly) So! Whats the problem? I have had to hide in the Empire like a frightened rabbit alot and I don't want to hide out again! So explain yourself!

Nasuada- Ok! The new teacher really dislikes dragons and she thinks that all dragons are evil and aggressive. She wants the dragons to be destroyed and if she sees you. Saphira, you and your Rider may be endangered.

Katherine- Oh no!

Nasuada- Katherine as long as you keep Saphira hidden both of you will be ok because she doesnt know that you are a Dragon Rider.

Saphira-(To Katherine) Katherine I dont like this one bit. Ive had to hide out like a frightened pigeon! And what if you're in danger and I cant get there on time to save you. Everytime I am away you get into danger!

Katherine-(To Saphira) I know. I don't want to be away from you either. (To Nasuada) What should I do? Will I still be able to see Saphira?

Nasuada- Yes you can see Saphira but not during the day. Or if you visit her during the day go to her in your horse form. And make sure no one follows you. But it would be better if you visit her at night but still go to her in your horse form so you wont be seen. And I have contacted Arya and the elves to come here to guard you. But they have to be undercover. And Saphira you need to go far enough that no one will find you but don't go too far. You and Katherine should keep your mind linked to each other so you can still talk to Katherine so stay close enough so you can contact your Rider through the mind link.

Saphira- When will the elves be coming?

Nasuada-Tonight.

Saphira- (to Katherine) I guess this is essential but I still dont like the sound of having to be away from you. But at least we could still see each other and talk to each other but you should bring your sword with you in case you run into trouble or use magic if you have to.

Katherine-Saphira how am I supposed to keep the sword hidden without anybody seeing it?

Saphira- Keep it hidden in your cloak.

Katherine-ok (To Nasuada) Ok. We will do as you say. Um Professor Nasuada...Where exactly should Saphira hide?

Nasuada- There is a cave about a quarter of a mile on the side of a hill. It is perfectly hidden and far enough to where no one can find Saphira but close enough to where you could still contact each other.

Saphira- Where should I hunt then?

Nasuada- You can hunt in the Forbidden Forest but do not kill the unicorns or the centaurs. There are some deer, elk, and moose that you can hunt.

Saphira- Alright, thanks

Nasuada- My pleasure. (To Katherine) You should hurry to the school now so you aren't late. And Ill meet you there. See you soon.

Nasuada leaves heading towards the school.

Katherine- (Gets down from the saddle and takes the saddle off of Saphira) (To Saphira) Well. I guess this is where we have to part. (hugs Saphira reluctant to leave her behind) I love you Saphira. You are a good friend.

Saphira-(gentle humming sounds from within her chest) I dont want to leave. I am afraid to leave you because everytime I do you end up getting into trouble.

Katherine- I know. I dont want to leave either but we have no choice. But I know all will be right again. We have done this once before in the Empire so Im sure we can do it again.

Saphira-(slowly blinks her sapphire blue eyes) And I hated every minute of it.

Katherine-(sighs) I know. But we can still talk to each other. And I will see you still. (looks towards the castle) Well I guess its time for me to head in. (looks back at Saphira and tries not to cry. Taking a deep breath) Please be careful Saphira.

Saphira-(Spreads wings to take off) You be careful. (grabs the saddle with her talons) See you soon little one. (flys off)

Katherine watches as Saphira flies away. Then turns into a black horse. And begins to trot back towards the school. As she approaches the school she slows to a walk but stays in horse form.

Arya arrives at the school but as a phoenix. And lands on Katherines withers. They both open their minds up to speak to each other.

Katherine- Greetings Arya.Where are the others?

Arya- Something came up so they couldnt come so I am the only one here to guard you.

Katherine-(tosses her mane and paws the ground) I may just stay in my horse form for a while while I am here.

Arya- Ok. (preans her feathers) I will stay a phoenix then.

Katherine- (walks through the double doors into the school. Walking in the corridors hooves echoing.) (Sees a teacher wearing pink standing in the hallway and stops a couple trots away.)Arya do you think thats the teacher? (The teacher spots Katherine and walks towards her)

Professor Umbridge- Hello. I am the new Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher.

Katherine- (Stays silent but has ears pinned against her head.)

Arya-(pecks Katherines mane and says in a warning tone). Katherine don't do anything foolish.

Katherine- (rolls her eyes and flicks her ears annoyed) Fine.

Professor Umbridge- Go take your seat in the dining hall. There will be no lingering. (walks off)

Katherine-(Her eyes turn bright red.She rears up on her hind legs feeling Aryas talons digging into her withers trying to stay on.) Ugh. We have only been here 5 seconds and I'm already irritated.

Arya-(squaks in agreement)

Katherine- (Eyes still bright red she walks into the dining hall. And stands beside the Gryffindor table.) All I got to say is I am not changing out of my horse form.

Food appears on the table and Katherine eats some carrots, apples, and grain. When she was done and the Headmaster made an announcement her and Arya headed up to the Gryffindor dormitories.

Katherine-(Trots over to the fireplace and lays down on the rug and Arya jumps off her back) We should get some sleep. Goodnight Arya.

Arya-Goodnight Dragon Rider.

Katherine- Expands her mental mind link and touches Saphiras mind and Saphira lowers her mental barriers)

Saphira- Hi Katherine is something wrong?

Katherine-( Sighs with relief when she hears Saphiras voice.) No. Everything is fine. I just wanted to know how you were doing.

Saphira- I dont like being away from you.

Katherine- I know. (An idea comes into Katherines head) Hey Saphira how about I gallop to where you are at.That way we can both be together. But I will have to gallop back here before the sun comes up?

Saphira- Oh.. are you sure about that? What if that evil teacher catches you?

Katherine-(Shakes head and snorts) You worry too much. Its making my mane itch. Ill be fine. I am as dark as night so she wont be able to see me.

Saphira-Ok. But be careful.

Katherine- ( Looks at Arya sleeping by the fire on the rug beside Katherine and quietly stands up and shakes her mane. Quietly steps over Arya without waking her or stepping on her. Steps outside the dormitory and looks around to make sure no teachers are around and walks through the hallway trying to keep her hooves from echoing. Once she is outside she gallops towards the Forbidden Forest. The wind is blowing through her mane.)

Katherine- (Arrives at the forest and spots Saphira. Katherine turns into her human form.)

Hello Saphira. (Katherine hugs Saphiras scaly nose and Saphira starts to hum gently)

Saphira- Hello little one. So what do you think about that teacher?

Katherine- I already feel uncomfortable around her.

Saphira- (Growls and smoke comes out of her nostrils.) I just hate the fact we have to be apart. (Sighs) Well would you like to go for a little flight for a bit?

Katherine- That sounds like fun. (hops on Saphiras scaly back bare back.) (Pats Saphiras shoulders feeling the rough scales bumping her hand) Lets have a little fun.

Saphira- (Snorts and spreads her wings to take off.)

Saphira takes of with Katherine on her back. As Saphira goes higher up in the sky Katherine begins to relax.

Saphira- (Through there mental mindelink Saphira sense Katherines worry and fear and becomes concerned) Little one are you alright?

Katherine- (Takes a deep breath) I am fine I am just worried thats all.

Saphira- What are you worried about?

Katherine- Professor Umbridge.I am worried about what she might do if she was to find out about us. What if she tries to kill you or Arya? I have already lost two people that I cared about. Both Brom and Garrow. I cant lose anybody else. Saphira I am scared. What if I cant fight her off if she chooses to harm me or you?

Saphira- Little one. All will be well. I know it. And she wont be able to hurt me or Arya because I am a dragon and Arya is an elf and I have my wards around me to protect me from any magical or physical attacks. Even if I didnt have those to protect me Umbridge would never be able to hurt me because I would eat her before she tries anything. I will be fine. And I am sure you will be able to fight her off especially when we fight together. We both defeated a shade and that mad king Galbatorix in the Empire. I am sure she will be no match for us.

Saphira and Katherine talk for a while. Right when they see a dim light that was the sun start to rise Saphira tilts her wings to descend from the clouds.

Saphira- Little one. (Saphira says as she lands)

Katherine- Yes Saphira?

Saphira- Please be careful while in those walls. Dont do anything foolish or wreckless. And keep watch for Umbridges every movement so she wont try anything on you. And since I cant be with you in those walls this year I need you to be extra careful.

Katherine- (Hops off Saphiras back and puts her forehead against Saphiras scaly snout. Saphira hums.) Ill be careful. Ill see you tonight. (Looks back towards the castle and then back at Saphira) Alright I better head in before anyone wakes up. (Looks into Saphiras sapphire eyes) I love you Saphira. Please be careful in the Forbidden Forest. There are a lot of dangerous things out here.

Saphira- (snorts) Dangerous To me (Laughs in her peculiar way) I am a dragon. Nothing can hurt me. ( Looks at Katherine and says gently) I will be careful. See you tonight little one. And please be careful. (Takes flight buffeting Katherine with the mighty wind that her wings make cause Katherine to stagger back a little)

Katherine- See you tonight. (Turns back into her horse form and gallops back toward the castle.)
